Warning! SPOILERS about Fire Country season 3, episode 10 ahead.
The focus on the Leones in Fire Country
season 3, episode 10 made it so that the challenges the firefighting drama’s characters faced were less extreme, but they still promoted some bonding, especially between two characters who unexpectedly created a heartwarming alliance. Walter turning up at the end of Fire Country season 3, episode 9 smartly dressed for Bode’s graduation raised some questions about his health, on which Fire Country season 3, episode 10 thoroughly focused. However, by proposing to reprise the Leone family fishing trips, Bode moved the focus from Walter’s problems to creating new memories with his grandfather.
While the Leone men were busy on their fishing trip with Jake, Sharon found herself handling a specific kind of crisis with only Audrey there to help her. Almost drowning in Fire Country season 3, episode 8 earned Audrey some days of rest after her hospital stay, which meant the recently graduated cadet only had one shift as a Cal Fire firefighter before having to briefly stop working. Audrey’s first shift back proved challenging after a baby was anonymously brought to Station 42 in Fire Country season 3, episode 10, but it also surprisingly pushed her closer to another character.
Gabriela’s Proposal To Audrey Can Make Them Friends In Fire Country Season 3
Gabriela & Audrey’s Alliance Is Much Better Than A Love Triangle Involving Bode
What to do with the baby handed over at the firehouse caused inevitably heated reactions after Sharon, Audrey and Gabriela felt the immediate urge to protect Calvin, as Audrey’s past informed every recommendation she had for the situation, influencing it when Audrey should have just followed protocol. The fight between Audrey and Gabriela’s opposing perspectives came to a halt once Audrey finally revealed how her mother abandoned her twice, effectively leading Audrey to reveal a very personal thing about her background, which prompted Gabriela’s offer to teach her how to swim when all was said and done with the baby.

Fire Country’s Midseason Finale Crisis Reveals The Problem Leones Bring To Edgewater
2 storylines in Fire Country season 3’s midseason finale highlighted 1 major problem with the Leones’ roles within Edgewater as a community.
The biological mother returning for the baby made things very difficult and not easily solvable, as it would have gotten the authorities involved before deciding whether Calvin remained with the biological mother or was placed up for adoption. However, even standing on opposite sides of that debate taught Gabriela a lot about Audrey, unavoidably making her like her and wanting to offer her something that hopefully fixed one consequence of Audrey’s biological mother abandoning her, that Audrey was unable to learn to swim.
Fire Country season 3 chose the much more difficult but rewarding path of making Audrey and Gabriela allies via the relinquished baby storyline.
Gabriela’s kind offer came after Fire Country season 3 proved Bode and Gabriela shouldn’t be together time and time again, no matter their feelings about it. After Fire Country season 3, episode 6 showed Gabriela partially jealous of Audrey and Bode’s bond, it would have been easy for Fire Country to put Gabriela and Audrey against one another. Instead, Fire Country season 3 chose the much more difficult but rewarding path of making Audrey and Gabriela allies via the relinquished baby storyline, pushing the two closer and not towards a love triangle that also involved Bode.
Audrey Befriending Others Besides Bode Strengthens Her Ties To Edgewater
Audrey & Gabriela Becoming Friends Gives Audrey A Potential Friend Group
Gabriela and Audrey befriending one another also gives the former inmate firefighter a bigger network of characters close to her, after Fire Country season 3 only managed to make Bode Audrey’s friend. A bigger social group makes Audrey’s permanence in Edgewater more secure, potentially letting her build roots there instead of just being connected to the California town through Bode, making Audrey’s stay more solid whether something romantic were to happen between Audrey and Bode or not in Fire Country season 3.
