From day one, I have been a Lisa Barlow fan from the Real Housewives of Salt Lake City. She was spunky, independent, and knew how to handle herself. She also reminded me quite a lot of the Real Housewives of New Jersey’s Teresa Giudice. Together, the two women are an unstoppable force who often command a room. These women are more alike than I once thought. Here is where their traits cross paths.
Teresa Giudice was the Queen Bee
Since 2009, Teresa has been the belle of the ball when it came to the Real Housewives of New Jersey. The mother of four started her Bravo career as a naive housewife whose only goal was raising her daughters and being a good wife to Joe Giudice. She was a Jersey girl through and through who touted that family was everything. For a while, Tre was one of the only stars who never backed down. Then we met Lisa. The Vida Tequila owner came in during the Real Housewives of Salt Lake City Season 1 and epitomized a young Teresa.
Both of these Real Housewives stars hate to be wrong. Handing out an ‘I’m sorry’ is the equivalent of a death sentence for these two as it is a clear sign of weakness. Clearly, the two women were cut from the same cloth. Lisa was a proud mother and wife who seemed to hold the same morals as Tre. God help anyone who spoke badly about Joe or John Barlow, for these men could do no wrong in the ladies’ eyes.

Both Lisa and Teresa were never ones for standing in line and following the crowd. Each forged their own paths on their respective shows. While most Bravo talent knows not to interrupt Andy Cohen, Tre literally manhandled the Bravo kingpin. And even though Lisa hasn’t put her hands on Andy, she has cut him off during multiple discussions. Perhaps the biggest issue that both women share is how they perceive constructive criticism. Each harbors intense feelings of being attacked when, in reality, they are just being held accountable for their actions. Once triggered, it is very hard for Lisa or Teresa to have a civilized conversation with their peers. Both Tre and Lisa expect utter loyalty. If you’re not with them, you’re against them.
This mentality shines through as both have made threats against the other women. While fighting with her sworn enemy, Lisa gave off Mafia wife vibes as she called her lawyer in a rage after Whitney Rose repeated a few rumors. Baby Gorgeous called her pal in cybersecurity and said, “Hey Shawn, I need an investigation opened. I’m being accused of something I did not do. I’m going to send you information, and I want to go the distance on it. The DISTANCE.” It hasn’t been missed that both these stars walk a thin, hypocritical tightrope.

What makes a great Real Housewives star great is exactly the same thing that also makes them polarizing. And whether you think these two might need some therapy or not, Lisa and Teresa have what it takes to shine. Neither one is afraid to cut people out of their lives in order to secure their peace. Tre axed her brother while Lisa was putting Whitney on ice. Even though most of us learn that the earth doesn’t revolve around us, Teresa and Lisa seemingly missed this memo.
Both Teresa and Lisa display similar characteristics and behaviors. They are driven and don’t appreciate when something or someone gets in their way. Each also claims to stand by the truth. They fight for what is right in their eyes and will make sure to do whatever is necessary to stay cast in a positive light. The reactions from each woman are emotional and over the top. But this is a big reason why we love watching them on our small screen. I hope Lisa can take a step back and reevaluate her reactions, though. The last thing I would want is for her to morph into Teresa seeing as her franchise has been put on pause due to an inability to film with some cast.
