During the most recent episode of The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills, fans saw Kyle Richards at a gun range. And she wasn’t alone. Her estranged husband, Mauricio Umansky, met her there. As Kyle reflected on how it was hard to be in a big house alone, she started to cry. Of course, Mauricio hugged her, but it was awkward. While Mauricio seems to be moving on, neither party has filed for divorce. Now Kyle is speaking out about how her husband’s success affected their marital bliss.
Kyle Richards agrees with Mauricio Umansky that RHOBH “did not affect us”
Mauricio was previously a guest on Bravo’s Hot Mic podcast, hosted by Bravo producer Alex Baskin. He stated that he didn’t feel that being on the show contributed to his marital problems with Kyle.
Alex asked Kyle if she agreed with her husband’s remarks. “I agree with Mau, for us. For us, it had nothing to do with the show. We did the show together for many years, and we were fine through it … I was very happily married,” Kyle explained. “The show did not affect us in that way at all.”
So, what did affect their marriage? Kyle stated that “the money and the attention that comes with fame” from being on RHOBH, “absolutely” affected the marriage. “Remember, we started out with nothing. I had three kids and a two-bedroom apartment,” Kyle said. Then, Kyle hopped into RHOBH, and Mauricio’s real estate business, The Agency, started to take off.
“You know, you’re traveling, you’re going places, he’s getting attention that he didn’t get before, there’s more people looking at him all of a sudden, he’s a rich man … it’s a very different situation,” the actress said. She also explained that because Mauricio was “a great dad” and “a great husband,” it gave him even more attention. “Just having that thrown in your face all the time,” Kyle said, “and of course me being busy and traveling, I think all of that just did not help.”
Plus, Mauricio’s travel schedule increased, as did Kyle’s workload. Then the marriage started to change. “[The] next thing you know, you’re like, ‘Wait, what happened to the things that we used to live by before?’ It’s just everything’s different now,” Kyle remarked.
Still, Kyle previously stated that she hopes to find love again. Of course, it’s no secret that Kyle has struggled during Season 14 of RHOBH. She hasn’t opened up about her separation and has found herself at odds with her co-stars. I can’t help wondering if Kyle will leave RHOBH after this season.
