Famed horror author Stephen King has returned to X, formerly known as Twitter. The renowned writer was known for taking to the social media site to share his views about everything, from movies and books to current affairs and politics. After leaving the platform in November last year in the wake of the election and Elon Musk’s takeover, the King has returned with two posts, one announcing his return, and another that’s targeted at President Donald Trump
, Russian President, Vladimir Putin, and controversial figure Elon Musk.
As reported by Variety, the author of books like Pet Sematary, Carrie, The Shining and It, has decided to jump back into the rocky territory that is X, the platform owned by Musk. King has been absent from X ever since Donald Trump was reelected president last November. When he left X, he did so with the following message: “I’m leaving Twitter. Tried to stay, but the atmosphere has just become too toxic. Follow me on Threads, if you like.”
However, he continued his social media activity on Bluesky, and the author has been far from silent, continuing to criticize Trump and his second term. Before returning to X, he posted the following message on the platform that many now use as an X replacement: “Trump and Musk are basically ignoring the Constitution they — Trump, at least — took an oath to defend. He also posted this: Just when you think Donald Trump cannot sink lower or be more shameful, today he’s blaming Ukraine for the war and calling Zelinsky a dictator, when he knows perfectly well that Putin’s constant re-elections are put-up jobs.”
Stephen King Has Some Choice Words for Donald Trump & Elon Musk
Now, Stephen King has decided to return to X. It was unexpected, to say the least, but it seems he’s back for good. The author took to the platform to say, “I’m baaaack! Did you miss me?” before leaving his most outspoken and angriest message yet…
Just wanted to say that Trump is a traitorous, Putin-loving dipsh*t! Goes double for Elon!

Stephen King fans will surely celebrate the author’s return to X given his occasional interaction with users, movie and TV reviews, random posts, and gloriously outspoken nature. However, they also have another reason to celebrate. The Monkey, the latest adaptation of a Stephen King story, is releasing today in theaters, and it has all the horror and mayhem you could expect from a King adaptation by Longlegs auteur, Osgood “Oz” Perkins.
Future Stephen King adaptations include Mike Flanagan’s The Life of Chuck, set to be released in theaters on June 6, 2025; Edgar Wright’s new adaptation of The Running Man, which has a release date of November 7, 2025; and Francis Lawrence’s The Long Walk, which still has no release date. In terms of television, the prequel It: Welcome to Derry will be released by HBO in 2026. Other adaptations in the works include Mike Flanagan’s adaptation of Carrie into a TV miniseries, Fairy Tale getting the TV treatment after Paul Greengrass’ feature film version didn’t convince producers, and The Institute, which is set to be released by MGM+ some time in the future.
