TUI announces new flight route from UK airport to Caribbean holiday destination | Travel News | Travel

A new direct flight route has been launched from a UK airport taking travellers to a beautiful Caribbean destination.

TUI Ireland is all set to launch a new flight from Belfast International Airport to Punta Cana in the Dominican Republic.

The service, which is likely to be operational from June 2026, will be Belfast’s only direct route to the Caribbean nation.

Punta Cana is one of the most popular tropical destinations in the Caribbean, known for its white-sand beaches, luxury resorts, and vibrant nightlife.

With the new direct route, tourists can book 14-night stays across multiple Dominican resorts, including La Romana, Bayahibe, San Pedro de Macoris, Punta Cana, Bavaro, Cap Cana, Miches, and Uvero Alto.

The flights will operate for four weeks and offer travellers expanded options for Caribbean getaways.

Head of Ireland for TUI Craig Morgan said: “We are delighted to offer our customers in Northern Ireland the opportunity to experience the Dominican Republic with our new direct flights from Belfast next summer.

“This is the only direct flight available from Belfast to the Dominican Republic and it will open up an exciting range of hotels and unique holiday experiences for Northern Irelands holidaymakers to enjoy.

“This new route to the Dominican Republic complements our existing long-haul flights from Belfast to Florida and Mexico, as well as a fantastic choice of European destinations for summer 2026 including the Canary Islands, Cyprus, Turkey, Spain, Portugal and Greece.”

With one of the Caribbean region’s longest white sand coastlines, spread across 30 miles, Punta Cana is the quintessential water, sun, and sand escape.

There are 11 Blue Flag certified beaches lined with shops, water sports, and beachfront bars. According to its official website, Punta Cana is also a golfer’s destination, with 10 courses located all along the strip, a seaside escape with luxurious marinas and fine dining, and a wellness corner home to the country’s top spas, including the only Six Senses in the Caribbean.

Belfast International Airport CEO, Dan Owens, said: “The Dominican Republic is a must-see destination for any traveller, and we are thrilled that TUI is introducing this new direct route to Punta Cana International Airport.

“This route is a welcome addition to the TUI network and part of our commitment to develop direct routes for travellers direct from their local airport.”
