While spring is certainly on its way, there may still not be enough sunshine for many Brits, with the UK being one of the least sunny countries in the world. One country has been revealed by Secret London as the world’s sunniest, making it a perfect year-round destination for those looking for a restorative holiday.
Egypt has been named the world’s sunniest destination, with Egyptians experiencing 3756.4 hours of sunshine a year. And it’s not just in the traditionally sunny months — the country enjoys 10 hours of sun a day in March and 257.5 hours of sunshine in the month of February. Flights to Egypt from the UK start from around £100 while hotel rooms can be found from as little as just £19.
Egypt offers plenty of cities to visit, including the capital city of Cairo, which is located along the River Nile.
Tourists can visit the Museum of Egyptian Antiquities and the National Museum of Egyptian Civilization, alongside numerous stunning mosques and churches.
Just a few miles from Cairo is Giza, where you can see the famous Pyramids of Giza and the Great Sphinx. To make the most of your trip, you can book private tours or enjoy a group tour.
Other cities include Luxor, the home of the Valley of the Kings and the Tomb of King Tutankhamun, and the coastal city of Alexandria, which has been deemed the “pearl of the Mediterranean”.
Before booking a visit to Egypt, be sure to check the most recent guidance from the UK Foreign Office.
Secret London have shared a full list of the world’s sunniest countries, with Namibia coming in second and Sudan in third. Perhaps unsurprisingly, the UK does not feature on the list, instead coming in at number five on the list of the world’s least sunny countries.
