With a pond that takes the Landrys where they need — not want — to go, the possibilities are endless for The Way Home.
Season 3 has wrapped up, but there’s obviously much more story to tell for Del (Andie MacDowell), Kat (Chyler Leigh), Alice (Sadie Laflamme-Snow), and Elliot (Evan Williams), both in the present and the past. And there are so many questions about the pond — could it ever take anyone to the future? It is all about reflection after all — that it doesn’t feel like it’s time to say goodbye to this Hallmark Channel show anytime soon.
Below, we’re taking a look at everything we know about the drama’s future, from whether there will be a fourth season to what could happen, who could return, and more.
Has The Way Home been renewed for Season 4?
Yes! Hallmark Media announced the renewal on March 6, the day before the Season 3 finale.
“We’re so thrilled. It’s such a lovely thing to be able to do this again. It really is a family, this cast and crew and the team at Hallmark, and it’s such a rare gift to be able to do this for a fourth time and we’re so, so grateful that we do get that,” executive producer Alexandra Clarke told TV Insider. “We’re very, very lucky,” added exec producer Heather Conkie.
“Our talented writing staff led by the mother-daughter showrunning team of Heather Conkie and Alexandra Clarke continues to amaze us as they raise the bar each season,” said Samantha DiPippo, Senior Vice President, Programming, Hallmark Media, in a statement. “Their carefully crafted storytelling filled with family drama, romance and an absorbing mystery has enthralled the show’s passionate fanbase and has made The Way Home appointment television. We can’t wait for them to see where the pond takes our time travelers as their journey continues.”
How did The Way Home Season 3 set up Season 4?
The Season 3 finale was reveal after reveal after reveal: Elliot was the baby in the basket, and his mother time traveled via the pond with a Landry; Colton (Jefferson Brown) found out Alice is his granddaughter and knew who Kat was when he died; Casey (Vaughan Murrae) isn’t Alice’s kid from the future; and Jacob left and Sam (Rob Stewart) stood at the pond as he told Del it will be okay.

Who will be in the Way Home Season 4 cast?
It’s safe to say that MacDowell, Leigh, Laflamme-Snow, and Williams will be back for the fourth season, but beyond them, it’s hard to say since it would depend on which times are visited. Macpherson will likely return as Jacob, though there is a question of when and where he is. Murrae has to be back as Casey, since while we know they use the pond to time travel, we don’t know who they are exactly to the Landrys in the present just yet. And Stewart has to return as Sam, Del’s love interest, to answer the questions the finale set up about him.
What will happen in The Way Home Season 4?
That’s to be determined, but it feels safe to assume that Kat and Alice will continue to use the pond to time travel and the latter will visit a significant point in either her mother or grandmother’s past.
Will The Way Home Season 4 reveal who Casey is?
It sure sounds like it! Casey is a time traveler, so they have to have some Landry blood in them, but while Alice was so sure they were her kid, they revealed in the finale that’s not the case.
“We realized early on that there was a way we could reveal all about Casey in our Episode 10, but we held back because it is such a lovely reveal and we didn’t want it to just be yet another reveal in this episode of reveals,” Clarke told TV Insider. There’s so much more story to tell with Casey. … They really could be anyone is the best part. They’ve got a little bit of Goodwin, they’ve got a little bit of Augustine, they’ve got a little bit of Landry. And I think it’s lovely to see the viewers continue to guess at who they actually are. The answer will be shared, of course it will. But I think there’s more story to tell and there’s more story to earn us that reveal rather than just kind of throw it away. It’s too big and important a reveal to just throw away in a quick scene in a finale episode. So I will say that they are telling the truth about not being Alice’s kid.”
And when we asked about any questions that will definitely be answered in Season 4, she said, “I think we can safely say that the Casey of it all — their identity, their story — the curtain will be pulled back on that in a bigger way next season for sure. I think the other lingering questions about Sam or the letters or all the things we let hang at the end of this year, they will be addressed, no question about it. We are very aware of the questions we left unanswered at the end of Season 3 going into Season 4, and I hope that our viewers trust us enough to know that we will 100 percent address ’em all.”
When could The Way Home Season 4 premiere?
All three seasons thus far have aired from January to March, of 2023, 2024, and 2025. It wouldn’t be surprising if that pattern holds and, if there is a fourth season, it airs January to March of 2026, but it would all depend on production and, of course, when that renewal comes.
Where will The Way Home Season 4 air?
While The Way Home Season 3 was going to briefly premiere on the streaming service Hallmark+ then air later in the year on the Hallmark Channel, that decision was quickly reversed ahead of the first episode. Instead, the episodes have aired Friday nights at 9/8c on Hallmark Channel then were made available to stream the following day. We have a feeling the same will continue to be true for Season 4.
Is there a Way Home Season 4 trailer?
Not yet.
