You could easily call Erika Jayne the comeback kid. The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star has had quite a tumultuous five years, thanks to her ex-husband’s legal issues. But finally, the tide has changed for the Pretty Mess singer. Now, thanks to a home makeover, Erika has the spring back in her step. Personally, I love how she’s taken control of her own narrative.
Erika Jayne wanted her mom at her new house to celebrate her next chapter
RHOBH fans have had a front-row seat to Erika’s transformation. Erika’s new home was once decked out with furniture she shared with Tom Girardi. The vibes often hindered her from healing as they reminded her of more challenging times. Her razzle dazzle had all but disappeared. Luckily, she had a professional to help bring her spark back. She shared on the Real Housewives of Beverly Hills: After Show, “We knew we wanted to do some renovations, but we’re on a budget.” Erika added, “I have no problem saying that because I lived many years not on a budget. Well, yes, there was a budget, but it was bigger.”
Erika shared, “Now it’s smaller, but that’s okay because it’s all mine.” The entertainer turned to Martyn Lawrence Bullard’s brilliant mind to transform her home. Erika was nervous he would say no to her. She noted, “I looked online at several interior designers, and Martyn’s style spoke to me, and there was no chance that this man was going to do this. Like, zero chance.” The first person she wanted to see in her new place was her mother, Renee Chahoy. Erika’s mom was more than impressed.
Erika Jayne wants nothing to do with ex-husband Tom Girardi amid trial and sentencing
In her most recent concessional, Erika shares just how important the renovation was for her soul. She has made it clear she wants nothing to do with Tom, revealing in a confessional that she thinks about him less and less. “I’ve been under a microscope since the day since the day I left Tom,” she explained, “Financially, socially, emotionally. I couldn’t have done anything right. So God forbid I spend anything I make!” It took a few years for Erika to grow back into her confidence, but finally, she took the plunge. She told Dorit Kemsley, “I’ve always loved this little house, but the energy has changed so much. Like, this is huge for me.”
Erika is ready to move on. She shared, “After four to almost five years of hell, I’m excited about life again, and I feel really good about that. Because that’s a signal to myself that you’re returning back to normal. You’re getting there. You’re slowly making your way back to a place that you recognize.” Erika has worked hard on herself and has attended therapy sessions once a week with Dr. Jenn Mann. EJ is more than happy with her progress and felt it was time to reward herself.

Call it hard work. Call it the ever-changing news cycle. Or call it an exorcism. But whatever Erika has done has changed the way Bravo fans are viewing her as of late. At the height of her troubles in Season 11, Erika’s voice often came across as aggressive. And her lone teardrop fooled no one. But fast forward to Season 14, and Erika is all about giving a spoonful of sugar when delivering home truths to the rest of the women. Erika’s demeanor is sympathetic, and her mediating traits are really shining through.
Dare I say Erika is once again taking the fan-favorite spot? While I genuinely thought Season 12 Erika would end her, especially after she stated “I don’t give a f*ck about anybody but me” she’s bounced back. However, Erika still has a long road ahead of her. Her divorce from Tom is ongoing. It’s been more than four years since she filed the paperwork, and their divorce has yet to be finalized.
Somehow, Erika has managed to play the character of Switzerland this season. Notoriously hard shoes to fill, EJ is doing a great job. She refuses to fall into Dorit’s or Kyle Richards’ traps. Instead, she chooses to focus on herself, which includes her new home makeover. So, bravo to Erika, for doing her best at revamping her house and character.
