The connections between Suits LA and Suits continue to grow, with an original villain set to return in an upcoming episode. Picking up six years after the original Suits completed its nine-season run in 2019, the Stephen Amell-led spinoff recently reintroduced Gabriel Macht’s Harvey Specter via a series of flashback sequences. While the new show focuses on a whole new set of characters based in a West Coast law firm, series creator Aaron Korsh has worked to establish this latest story within the same universe.
Per Variety, original Suits star David Costabile has been tapped to return as the villainous Daniel Hardman. The exact details surrounding Hardman’s return are currently under wraps, though the report suggests that he is due to appear in an upcoming episode as a guest star. This will mark the third Suits character to cross over into the new spinoff, following on the heels of Macht’s Harvey Specter, and an upcoming appearance from Rick Hoffman’s Louis Litt.

After being forced out by Gina Torres’ Jessica Pearson for embezzlement, the disgruntled corporate attorney frequently overstepped ethical and legal guidelines in a bid to exact his revenge and regain control of the firm he had once lost.

Suits is a great legal drama with strong character arcs, well-defined relationships, and a constant momentum always showcased in the best episodes.
While it is unclear what form Costabile’s Suits LA guest appearance will take, his presence is likely to serve as a significant complication for Amell’s Ted Black. Given that Hardman has repeatedly proven himself capable of targeting and manipulating those close to his enemies in order to achieve his goals, Black’s friendship with Specter would likely place him directly into his crosshairs. It is a situation that could prove gravely troublesome for Amell’s character moving forward as the season progresses.

At this stage, it is unknown whether Costabile’s appearance will take place in Suits LA‘s present-day timeline, or will instead play a role in fleshing out the story of Ted Black’s time in New York. However, given that the show has already kept Macht’s character limited to flashbacks, it would make sense for Daniel Hardman to appear in a similar way. Given what audiences already know about his villainous tendencies, it is possible that Hardman could even be revealed as one of the major players in the catastrophic case that saw him leave New York behind.
