Summer House Season 9, Episode 6 Recap: Shipwrecked

Welcome to the recap for Summer House Season 9, Episode 6. Last week, Jesse almost decided to be exclusive with Lexi but pulled out at the eleventh hour. Meanwhile, Paige forgave Kyle for his misdirected rage texts. However, she might have wanted to send some rage texts of her own to Craig for sounding like he was going to break up with her at an Australian restaurant. Will the two be able to make up? Here’s exactly what went down in Summer House Season 9, Episode 6: “Shipwrecked.”

Carl was finally ready to jump back into the dating pool and invited someone to his shipwrecked party. But he quickly learned he was really only ready for the kiddie pool instead. Jesse had a Lexi-free weekend and spent it flirting with Ciara. Oop. Kyle and Craig did not clear the air yet, much to Kyle’s dismay. However, Paige and Craig continued their conversation about their relationship, which didn’t seem to help matters much. Someone was about to walk the plank.

Gabby was back in action as Craig and Paige picked her up to go to the house. Paige then filled her in on all the goss that happened with Kyle while she was away. Craig added more fuel to the fire when he went off about Kyle calling him a liar.

He explained, “He went on TV and called me a liar. He said on Watch What Happens, he goes, ‘Well, Craig Conover’s known to be a liar.’ I’m actually not; I don’t lie about anything.” Paige said that Kyle was mad that Craig invested in another alcohol company. Craig snarked, “It’s a huge space. Like it doesn’t affect Kyle.”

Meanwhile, Jesse, West, Imrul, and Carl were bro-ing it up in the car on whether they should bark or howl. How about neither? Somehow, after only two weeks, Jesse knew Lexi’s version of a dog bark and imitated her. West quipped, “Not even off Manhattan and we’re talking about Lexi.”

Carl was excited for a Lindsay-free weekend and told the group he invited his lady friend Lil to his shipwrecked-themed party. West said, “I want you to find your pirate’s booty.” Which was the first of many pirate puns to come.

Amanda was greeted with a big birthday surprise once she arrived at the house. The crew set up all her favorite snacks, including a cake that traveled in the car with Paige and Craig for five hours. Ew. But Amanda was thrilled.

She said, “Now I’m able to focus on things I’ve always wanted to do that my depression and anxiety were holding me back from. It’s like a whole new world.” Then the awkwardness between Kyle and Craig began.

Kyle, who continued to channel Brady Bunch chic in his confessionals, lamented about Craig. He said, “This weekend I’m going to address the elephant in the room between me and Craig. Because what he did was super shady, and the guy hasn’t apologized.”

Carl also lamented about Lindsay not supporting his soft bar idea. He said, “Honestly, print this. Thank you, Lindsay. At the time that I told her that I wanted to start a bar, you know what? It was a bad idea. But guess what? I went back to the table, and I refined my idea.” He showed her!

Since Lexi was MIA this weekend, Jesse wanted to make it his goal to bring the band back together. He said, “I feel caught in between two friends. And I wish we could all get along and it was chill. So maybe I can level with Ciara and help her realize West isn’t such a bad guy?” But that leveling was about to turn into some major flirting instead.

Kyle and Craig were actually being civil to one another as they talked about the latest cake-cutting trend. Jesse asked, “You guys are getting along so well. Like, did I miss a squashing of the beef?” And that’s when things went left.

Craig wanted to save their conversation for tomorrow, but Kyle kept pushing for them to talk right now. And Craig wouldn’t budge. Kyle said, “So much for me trying to minimize the awkwardness. Like, what the f*ck was that?” Then he huffed dramatically outside. Which didn’t make things more awkward at all.

Gabby wanted to see Carl spit some game

The group divided up, half going out for the night while the others stayed home. Summer House was slowly turning into Suburban House. Ciara and Amanda hung back, and Ciara told her to store the cake in the oven to keep it fresh. The cake continued to get its own subplot when Jesse and West came back later that night. Jesse joked, “Oh my God, who put the cake in the oven?”

In the morning, Craig and Paige continued their discussion about Kyle. Craig said, “We’re not as tight as we used to be. And so if I didn’t come out to the Hamptons with you, I don’t know if Kyle and I would have really ever made up.” But Paige was secretly Team Kyle and wanted Craig to get the conversation over with ASAP.

Amanda gave Gabby a mini fashion show of some swimwear for her design line, which was quite cheeky. The two then watched Carl set up his party outside. Gabby was excited to see Carl without Lindsay. She said, “I don’t know what he’s like. I want to see him spit game. It’s kind of like watching a baby take their first steps or something.”

Carl was also top of mind for Jesse, Kyle, and Imrul. Kyle noted that Imrul needed to be Carl’s wingman at the party. Imrul promised he had twenty girls on the ready. And I doubt he was joking.

Kyle then wondered if Jesse was going to be on his best behavior. Jesse told them he and Lexi were moving slow if moving slow meant wanting to be exclusive within the first weekend of knowing each other. Kyle teased this party was Jesse’s last shot at freedom until an “exclusivity clause is in the mix.”

Paige was about to throw Craig overboard

Carl’s party setup was underway. He announced, “We need all hands on deck,” to numerous groans. Kyle wasn’t going to ask Craig for help because he didn’t want to “rock any boats.” Well done, gentlemen.

However, Jesse was about to rock the boat with Lexi. He literally threw himself on top of Ciara while she was on a pool float. Ciara said, “Me and Jesse definitely flirt. But I don’t have any intentions behind it. I do think that if the opportunity presented itself, I got 90% on he’d probably take it.” I’d give it 99.

Everyone went all out with their costumes. But the winner was Gabby for her Halle Berry Die Another Day bikini number. She explained, “I was on my expensive yacht, and I got thrown overboard, and this is all I have, so I got shipwrecked.”

Lil told Carl what every man wants to hear from their date, that he gave off “lemur energy.” On the opposite end, Imrul was surrounded by a trio of ladies telling him how sexy he was in his pirate outfit. Carl, take notes.

Now it was time for another uncomfortable conversation between Paige and Craig. She brought up him being a priority, and he said, “You are about to go on tour. I just don’t want to feel forgotten about.” Paige countered, “My career is way different than when we met. And I don’t feel bad about it.” Craig wondered if they needed a yearly review relationship check-in. Paige stated, “I’ll let you know if you’re fired or not.” Oh, boy.

Summer House continues Wednesdays at 9/8c on Bravo.
