Antisemitic incidents hit historic levels — yet Albany Dems refuse to stand up against it

Are New York Democrats ever going to protect Jews?

The Anti-Defamation League just reported a record-breaking number of antisemitic incidents nationwide last year, and it’s jaw-dropping: 9,354, counting assaults, harassment and vandalism.

That’s a 5% increase from 2023 and a whopping 344% jump over the past five years.

It’s nearly nine times higher than a decade ago.

And New York suffered more of those attacks (1,437) than any other state, as perps here were shielded from consequences, particularly because they were allowed to hide their faces with masks.

State lawmakers have been holding their hands firmly over their ears, ignoring pleas to take stronger steps to fight antisemitism.

They’ve even resisted Gov. Kathy Hochul’s call to ban the masks, as they were banned before COVID, so that antisemitic criminals can be held accountable.

On a national basis, the ADL figures are beyond shocking: Jews were victims of a record 25 antisemitic incidents a day last year — more than one an hour.

A majority, the group finds, were motivated by hatred of Israel and Zionists (i.e., about 85% of Jews), particularly after Hamas’ Oct. 7, 2023, slaughterfest killed 1,200 innocent Israelis.

“Protesters displayed ‘justification or glorification of antisemitic violence’ by framing terror attacks against Israel and the Jewish community as justified ‘resistance,’” the report found.

College campuses, including Columbia and Cornell, became hotbeds of anti-Israel and antisemitic activity — comprising nearly one in five of all reported cases.

One small piece of good news: Cornell University on Wednesday canceled Jew-hating R&B artist Kehlani’s on-campus performance amid backlash over its vile decision to host the fiercely antisemitic musician.

Bad news: Columbia is bracing for renewed anti-Israel protests; organizers secretly plan to set up an encampment again.

Will they be allowed to hide their identities with masks again, like they did last year, giving lefty prosecutors an excuse not to charge them for their crimes?

Word is that the mask ban Hochul demanded this year will die on the vine, or be watered down to nothing, because some lawmakers fear “criminalizing communities of color.”

Hmm: Lawmakers seemed to have no problem banning masks when the KKK used them to hide their identities as they terrorized blacks. . .

Still, it borders on incomprehensible that lawmakers in the state that’s home to more Jews than any other won’t lift a finger to stamp out this scourge.

They remain utterly unmoved by the explosion in antisemitic hate crimes here, and seem to fear no political consequences for ignoring it.

That’ll only change if a fair-minded public proves there are indeed such consequences, by booting them from office.

Meanwhile, brace for a few months of antisemitic turmoil as the weather warms, encampments pop up and antisemites enjoy another open season on Jews.
