Warning: This article contains major spoilers for Daredevil: Born Again Season 1 Finale
Daredevil: Born Again
brought its first season to a blistering conclusion, with several cliffhangers now in play ahead of Season 2. With Mayor Fisk declaring martial law on the city of New York, The Punisher about to bust his way out of Fisk’s prison, Benjamin Poindexter, aka Bullseye, free in a city that has zero tolerance for vigilantes, and Matt Murdock preparing to assemble an army to take on the corrupt Mayor and his team, many fans believe that Season 2 now has the perfect path to give fans something they have wanted for years – the return of the other Defenders.
Since it was announced that Daredevil would be entering the MCU, with Matt Murdock’s first appearance coming in 2021’s Spider-Man: No Way Home and his Daredevil return happening in Echo, fans immediately began calling for the return of other favorites, such as Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, and Frank Castle aka The Punisher – Iron Fist, not so much but still in the mix somewhere. Now, Castle has made a huge impact on the first season of Born Again, and the finale’s “army” building tease has suggested the time is right for the other Defenders to come out of the shadows.

Marvel Studios made some big changes to the original plans for Born Again, partly, many believe, due to the fan backlash against the idea of the show dismissing the Netflix show and its stars. Whether Marvel Studios is listening to all of those fans again is yet to be seen, but we probably need to remember that one of the biggest fans of the Marvel world is the man who is in charge of pulling it together.
Who is Likely to Appear in ‘Daredevil: Born Again’ Season 2?
While there are some guaranteed players in the next round of Daredevil brutality, such as Swordsman, Bullseye, and The Punisher, it is the “who else” question that will drive fans wild until they finally get the confirmation they have been wanting for years…that Jessica Jones is on her way back to the Marvel fold.
Of all the Defenders, Krysten Ritter’s super-powered private investigator has been a constant fan favorite, and while others such as Luke Cage are on the list of possible returnees, if Ritter’s Jones does not make an appearance in Daredevil: Born Again Season 2, then fans are going to bring their own form of Fisk justice down on Marvel Studios – albeit in a keyboard warrior kind of brutality rather than actually cracking skulls.

In the last two years, Ritter has frequently spoken about her love of Jessica Jones, and that she is open to reprising the role again. She has even shared social media posts of herself with the “Jones look” and recently teased that she was in New York filming, but it remained unclear if that had anything to do with the start of filming on Born Again’s new season.
In the main, all fans can do is wait and watch, and possibly go back and re-watch the entire Defenders saga to pass the time. Some set leaks have shown Daredevil and Bullseye seemingly fighting on the same side, and no doubt other little pieces will break loose from under Marvel’s secrecy veil and make it online ahead of Season 2’s debut. However, it is going to be a long wait for Daredevil fans with the series not expected to land until next year.
