Brittany Cartwright Reveals How Ex Jax Taylor Is ‘Controlling’

Jax Taylor and Brittany Cartwright’s dysfunction was very apparent in Season 1 of The Valley. And with the premiere of Season 2 tonight, fans will get to see the next chapter for the former couple. Now fans will finally see what led to their split.

The Valley Season 2 was filmed over the summer last year. Brittany had already initiated the divorce. She and Jax were trying to figure out their new normal, all while co-parenting their four-year-old son Cruz. Jax went on to reveal a bipolar diagnosis after some issues were made public. Brittany revealed in a recent interview that some of the controlling behaviors Jax exhibited while filming are still ongoing today.

The Valley Season 2 will feature Brittany Cartwright and Jax Taylor’s tensions

“He very much is still focused on what I’m doing a lot of the time,” Brittany told Us Weekly.

“It’s weird that I still feel like he’s controlling things in my life,” she explained. “He’s super, super controlling in different ways. I feel like I haven’t spoken on how negative things really have been between us.”

Brittany has been accused of over-sharing about her split from Jax. But she feels it’s important to set the record straight, especially considering what the truth will mean to Cruz as he gets older.

She said, “I’m defending myself for things that were said and podcasts and different things. The show’s coming out, and there’s trailers, and there’s this and that.”

The Valley Season 2 trailer hinted at some of the treatment that Brittany endured. For example, in one clip, she claimed Jax had “people watching” her. She also confronted her estranged spouse about an unclaimed thong left on her bathroom sink.

“Things are a lot worse than people think,” Brittany told the news publication. “Just the controlling aspect of everything — wanting to know where I’m at, what I’m doing 24/7. You’ll see throughout the season. They’re gonna be like, ‘Wow. She went through all of this?’ And just because he is trying to be a better person doesn’t mean that it’s actually better.”

“It’s gonna take a long time,” Brittany shared. “It’s just complicated. Whenever you don’t trust somebody anymore and to get that back, it’s gonna be very hard. I don’t think that he realized how much damage he did to me.”

Catch the premiere of The Valley Season 2 April 15 at 9/8c on Bravo.
