Denise Richards and Charlie Sheen’s three-year marriage ended when Denise filed for divorce in 2005. No one could escape the endless tabloid coverage. Still, Denise is grateful for the divorce and how it changed her life. Now that’s how to turn lemons into lemonade!
Denise Richards was a “people pleaser” before divorce from Charlie Sheen
Denise and her three daughters, along with her husband Aaron Phypers, are showing off their lives in the Bravo series, Denise Richards & Her Wild Things. There were reports that Denise decided to do the show because Charlie stopped paying child support for their two daughters, Sami Sheen and Lola Sheen.
In 2021, a judge ruled that Charlie no longer needed to pay support. Ouch! As for co-parenting their two daughters? Denise said that both she and Charlie have their own style of parenting.
Recently, Denise was a guest on the podcast Whine Down with Jana Kramer. And she discussed filing for divorce when she was six months pregnant with Lola. “I remember filing for divorce from their dad and driving to, I was six months pregnant and going to a table reading. [I] didn’t tell anyone at the table reading,” Denise explained, “and just, well, the sh*t will hit the fan when it does, and I’ve just got to keep going.”
The actress continued, “I think before my divorce and before I got all this crap in the tabloids, I was always such a people pleaser and wanted to do everything right.” Denise added, “And wanted to say the right things and be careful what I said in interviews.”
Fortunately, Denise found a silver lining during the difficult experience. “And going through all that sh*t actually was such a blessing because it made me just think I am gonna be me,” Denise said.
