Katy Perry hopes to sing ‘a little bit’ in space ahead of Blue Origin launch

Katy Perry is all geared up to fly in Blue Origin’s all-female spaceflight on Monday morning. The historic trip to space will see the 40-year-old artist join Aisha Bowe, Kerianne Flynn, Gayle King, Amanda Nguyen, and Lauren Sanchez, the fiancée of the Aerospace company’s founder, Jeff Bezos. The night before embarking on the highly anticipated mission, Perry dropped a new video on her Instagram and gave a peek inside Blue Origin’s launch vehicle, the New Shepard.

Perry showed the capsule that she and her co-passengers have been “training in for the last few days.” The singer revealed she would be in seat number two. Clearly, Perry was thrilled as she said in a singing voice, “Here are the New Shepard.” It then struck her that she must flaunt her vocals in space. The “E.T.” hitmaker said, “I think I’m gonna sing. I’m gonna sing a little bit.” She added, “I gotta sing in space.”

Perry then continued to show around the rocket and the seats of her “astronaut girly friends.” Meanwhile, the singer expressed her excitement and wrote in the Instagram Reel’s caption, “I’ve dreamt of going to space for 15 years and tomorrow that dream becomes a reality.” Perry continued that the Taking Up Space Crew would launch into space at 7 a.m. C.T. on April 14. The mom of one continued, “I am SO honored to be alongside 5 other incredible and inspiring women as we become the first ever all female flight space crew!”
