Kent‘s coastline is a treasure trove of scenic spots, from the golden sands of Broadstairs to Deal’s charming pebble beaches. Whitstable, nestled snugly between Herne Bay and Seasalter, has become a beacon for beachgoers. This quaint town, just five miles north of Canterbury, is brimming with attractions that lure visitors in droves.

Its impressive selection of eateries, pubs, rich history, and landmarks such as Whitstable Castle and Gardens make it an undeniable favourite. Yet, it’s Whitstable’s sprawling beach that truly cements its status as a prime destination, drawing crowds year after year. The town’s allure has captivated many famous personalities. Peter Cushing, the iconic Hammer Horror actor, spent many years in Whitstable, leaving behind an indelible mark.

Comedians Harry Hill and Alan Davies, along with journalist Janet Street-Porter, are among the notable figures who’ve made it their home.

Even A-listers have sought solace in Whitstable’s serene setting, with Breaking Bad’s Aaron Paul and adult film sensation Mia Khalifa gracing its shores. Following her visit, Mia Khalifa even declared on Instagram that Whitstable was “better than Miami,” reports KentLive.

The 32 year old influencer spent a blissful fortnight in 2022 at a luxurious Whitstable beachfront AirBnB which set her back £580 a night, but when it came time to leave, she lamented to her Instagram followers: “Been in Whitstable the past two weeks and I’m heartbroken to leave.”

For those who fancy a brush with fame, look no further than the Old Neptune pub. Perfectly sited just a heartbeat away from the sandy stretch, it also stands as a sought-after retreat among the celebrity circuit.

Affectionately dubbed ‘the Neppy’, this dog-friendly public house plays host to an array of top-notch local ales and vinos. Grinning proprietors regularly flaunt photos on their Facebook page, snagging shots with the celebrated clientele.

Musical talents like Louis Dunford, known for his anthem ‘The Angel (North London Forever)’, have been spotted savouring a drink here. Actor Sean Williamson, famous for playing Barry in EastEnders dropped in for a visit too.

The litany of stars doesn’t stop there; culinary sensation Tom Kerridge, TV presenter Stacey Dooley, and Love Island personality Montana Brown have all enjoyed this pub’s convivial atmosphere.

Indeed, the effervescent blend of fame and the salty sea breeze is commonplace in Whitstable, not only offering picturesque vistas but also acting as a magnet for stars.

Aside from star-gazing, this seaside gem is making waves as an idyllic backdrop for both film and TV buffs, featuring in hits like Acorn TV’s ‘Whitstable Pearl’, ‘Interior Design Masters’, and even ‘Celebrity Antiques Roadshow’.

Whitstable Beach, known for its appearances in films such as ‘Still Life’ starring Eddie Marsan, is a magnet for both the film industry and celebrities.

This lengthy stretch of shingle beach, segmented by wooden groynes, attracts visitors from far and wide. Despite lacking golden sands or typical seaside attractions like a pier or rides, The Beach Guide has lauded it as encapsulating the ‘best of the traditional British seaside’ due to its unique charm.

A casual stroll along the seafront unveils a colourful array of beach huts and fishing boats drawn right up onto the shore. Nearby, there’s no shortage of places to eat, including the famous Whitstable Oyster Company.

Just a short distance away lies the South Quay Shed, a recent addition to the area that offers a range of excellent eateries and independent shops. Whitstable Beach is also a popular spot for windsurfing and sailing, with the Whitstable Yacht Club located towards the northern end.

Plus, the beach’s west-facing position makes it a prime location for sunset watching.
