Karen Huger, the Grande Dame of The Real Housewives of Potomac, has a different zip code these days. In December 2024, Karen was convicted of driving under the influence, along with several other charges. She is currently serving a one-year prison term. Now her RHOP co-star, Gizelle Bryant, is giving an update on Karen’s life behind bars.

Of course, Gizelle worried about how Karen would fare in prison. “In all seriousness, I am concerned for her safety. Karen ain’t cut out for jail,” Gizelle previously stated. “I pray that she’s OK and that the Lord is with her.”
Recently, Gizelle appeared on Watch What Happens Live and was asked about Karen. “I wanted to know if you’ve been in touch with Karen since her sentencing, and also, do you know if she and Wendy [Osefo] have spoken since that reunion?” a virtual audience member asked.
“Her and Wendy have not spoken and probably will not for a very long time,” Gizelle replied. “I have been in contact with someone who’s very close to her about her safety and all that. And from what I understand, they love her up [in] where she is right now.”
Then host Andy Cohen responded, “Oh, is that right? They are loving Karen?” Gizelle stated, “They are loving the Grande Dame.” Porsha Williams of The Real Housewives of Atlanta added, “I love that for her.” It sounds like Karen isn’t suffering in prison. “Yes, and you know she is running that thing,” Gizelle stated.
Meanwhile, Andy couldn’t resist a little joke at Karen’s expense. “The artist formerly known as the Grande Dame,” he quipped. “Yes, yes, they love her,” the RHOP star said. “So, I feel very good about the fact that she’s safe.”
Of course, Andy asked about Karen’s husband. “And have you spoken to Ray [Huger] at all?” Gizelle replied, “Yes, and Ray is … he’s still adjusting.” Unfortunately for Karen, her request for a work release program was denied. We will have to wait and see if a Bravo comeback is in Karen’s future.
