Yellowjackets Finally Reveals How The Teens Are Rescued After 19 Months In The Wilderness

Warning: SPOILERS ahead for Yellowjackets season 3, episode 10, “Full Circle.”Yellowjackets season 3, episode 10 finally answers the question of how the girls get rescued during the ’90s timeline, and it involves a ruse in the midst of the pilot’s Pit Girl hunt. The third season of Yellowjackets takes the girls closer than ever to leaving the Wilderness, but the few that don’t want to go home destroy their chances of reaching a rescue point with Kodiak and Hannah. Shauna becoming the leader makes it increasingly difficult for any of them to escape. However, they finally find a way to during the season 3 finale.

Yellowjackets season 3, episode 9’s ending lays the groundwork for the girl’s going home, as it sees Van trying to fix the phone Hannah and Kodiak broke episodes earlier. It also follows Misty as she realizes what Van’s doing — and that she can help using parts from the plane’s transponder, which she destroyed back in season 1. Still, rescue isn’t certain when the finale opens. In fact, Shauna seems determined to ensure everyone in the camp is accounted for. But as the girls partake in another hunt, they manage to reach the outside world for the first time since crashing.

Just as episode 9 teases, Hannah’s satellite phone is the instrument the teen Yellowjackets use to get home after 19 months in the Wilderness. The very end of Yellowjackets season 3 sees Natalie hiking to a high cliff with the phone, then using it to reach out for help. It takes a few tries, but she eventually manages to make contact with a man in the outside world. It’s a satisfying moment after all this time — and it’s a nice change of pace from all the girls’ failed attempts to get home.

Every Death In Yellowjackets Season 3 Explained

From longtime characters to newly introduced individuals, there has been no shortage of shocking bloodshed in Yellowjackets season 3 episodes.

The girls are still in the Wilderness when season 3 comes to a close, but Natalie confirms the man can hear her, which means their rescue is imminent. It will likely happen in Yellowjackets season 4, though there are a few other incidents that need to happen first. Natalie being the one to facilitate rescue makes sense of Yellowjackets’ adult timeline, too, as Tai and the others seem to credit her with saving them out there. With the show’s confirmation that Natalie gets them home, Tai paying for her rehab makes a lot more sense.

Although Natalie is the one who finally reaches out for rescue, she’s only able to do so thanks to a group effort. The teens who want to go home come up with a plan to force another hunt. This is why Akilah kills her animals in the Yellowjackets season 3 finale: she knows Lottie will suggest making a sacrifice to the Wilderness and prompt a new hunt. The hunt gives the teens a means of separating Shauna, Tai, and Lottie — and it gives Natalie the opportunity to fix Hannah’s satellite phone and reach out for help.

Hannah and Natalie switch outfits with one another, knowing that Shauna will be keeping an eye on Nat.

When Hannah discovers Natalie with the phone, she joins in on the plan, and it’s mostly thanks to her that Natalie can hike to a high point and use it. Hannah and Natalie switch outfits with one another, knowing that Shauna will be keeping an eye on Nat but not necessarily everyone else. And Shauna believes that Hannah is Natalie when they prepare their feast; she doesn’t realize she’s been tricked until later. By then, Natalie is already calling for help. Shauna’s enraged when she discovers what’s going on, but it’s too late to undo it — though there could be consequences.

There Are Still 3 More Deaths That Have To Happen Before The Teens Get Rescued

Hannah, Gen, & Akilah Won’t Make It

Rescue is on the horizon thanks to Natalie’s actions in the finale, but there are still at least three more deaths that need to happen before the teen Yellowjackets are rescued. We know that Hannah doesn’t survive the Wilderness, as season 3’s adult timeline sees the survivors grappling with someone finding her recording of the night Edwin is killed. They talk about her being dead, and they fear that her daughter, Alex, is the one blackmailing them. And with Hannah participating in the rescue mission, there’s a good chance she’ll die because of Shauna or Lottie.

Yellowjackets Season 3 Doubles Down On A Season 2 Survivor Complaint & Makes It Even Worse

Yellowjackets season 3, episode 8’s survivor twist doubles down on a season 2 complaint, and the show must avoid repeating this problem in the future.

Gen and Akilah also aren’t present in the adult timeline, and the survivors even confirm that Gen is dead. Unless Yellowjackets reveals another secret adult survivor, both will need to perish, either before they’re rescued or shortly after. There are a couple more background characters, too, including Robin — though it’s possible they’ll make it home. Ghost Jackie suggests that the Yellowjackets’ crimes continue even after they’re found, so perhaps some of these teens will survive the Wilderness but die in other ways. Either way, the Wilderness isn’t done claiming lives in the ’90s storyline.
