AI Movie Sales Company Backed By Sylvester Stallone To Open AI Production Studio

When AI first became popular, people feared it would eventually become an inescapable part of their everyday lives. Although it’s been marketed as a “helper” rather than to replace, it has, indeed, replaced a lot of things and peoples’ jobs. Veteran actor Sylvester Stallone doesn’t seem to have that fear, as, according to Variety, he invested $7.5 million into Largo.ai. It’s an AI-driven analytics platform for advertising in the television and film industries. The platform teamed up with London and Rome-based Brilliant Pictures for what they’re calling “the world’s first ever fully AI-automated film sales, production and finance company”, which combines both companies’ expertise.

Brilliant Pictures’ titles include The Curse, Close to Nature, The Messenger, Malice in Wonderland, and more. The company’s chairman, Sean O’Kelly, said that the collaboration is about making content faster and easier and that the hope is to embrace the future use of AI in film rather than replace the methods and crews whose decades of hard work make the industry what it is today. According to Variety, O’Kelly said:

We’ve been following Sami and Largo.ai’s trajectory since their early formation. As one of the earliest pioneers of AI-assisted filmmaking, their technology is way ahead of the curve. We’ve seen and trialed the limitless potential and value it can add as an assistance tool to underpin and enhance our human and creative instincts. For us, it’s about making content in a faster, easier and less risky way. We’re proud to now take this to the next level through our partnership. Working together we hope to set a new standard for AI-assisted filmmaking, embracing the future whilst respecting the creative contributions that make cinema magic.

With decades of experience and a legacy of award-winning films, Brilliant is perfectly positioned to set a blueprint for the new standard of filmmaking. This marks a pivotal point for the adoption curve within the industry. When we started out on this journey in 2020, there was a fear and hesitance as to the role of AI in filmmaking. Over the last two years, as technologies like ChatGPT have become embedded in our everyday lives, people are now waking up to its limitless potential as an integral and symbiotic part of the movie-making process.

The Potential Pros and Cons of Using More AI In Film

The film industry has evolved tremendously throughout the decades. From handmade sets and props to computer-generated scenes, a glimpse at a sci-fi movie from the 1960s, and one from the late 2010s, are the best ways to see the change visually. Some might say it’s an improvement, while others might complain that film quality isn’t the same anymore. Either way, there are pros and cons to using AI heavily in the industry. On the one hand, as Brilliant Pictures’ CEO said, films will be made easier and faster, which means you won’t have to wait years for a sequel. On the other hand, a lot of hardworking, talented crew will be out of jobs in some way regardless of claims to the contrary, and who’s to say AI can fully achieve the creativity of a skilled human in a few years?
