Disney is arguably the most prestigious entertainment company in the industry. With a library of Walt Disney classics, Pixar, Marvel, Star Wars, and National Geographic, this conglomerate should have something for everyone.
Star Wars fans should know that their day is coming up, and Disney+ is ready to celebrate May the 4th with a brand-new season of a Star Wars favorite. But if a long, long time ago in a galaxy far, far away isn’t your thing, Stanley Tucci is taking audiences back to Italy. There’s also something for the younger demographic in a brand-new preschool series starring Minnie Mouse. Plus, several other new offerings are making their way to the streamer just in time for summer. Curious to see what Disney+ has to offer this month? Here are some of the highlights.
‘Star Wars: Tales of the Underworld’ (Season 3)
Streaming May 4
The newest season of this anthology appropriately arrives on May 4. Previously known as Tales of the Jedi in Season 1 and Tales of the Empire in Season 2, this show follows side characters from the extensive Star Wars universe. The first season featured Jedi from the prequel trilogy era, and the second focused on characters connected to the Empire. Tales of the Underworld follows the bounty hunters who were active in the underworld at the height of the Empire.

After The Bad Batch and Tales of the Empire, What’s Next for Star Wars Animation?
The Bad Batch wrapped up the Clone Wars era of Star Wars animation earlier this year, and now the future is more uncertain than ever.
Per Disney+ and Lucasfilm, the new season follows “former dark side assassin Asajj Ventress as she’s given a new chance at life and must go on the run with an unexpected new ally, and outlaw Cad Bane as he faces his past when he confronts an old friend, now a marshal on the other side of the law.”
Ventress and Bane were both previously featured in the animated series Star Wars: The Clone Wars and Star Wars: The Bad Batch, with Bane also appearing in live-action form in The Book of Boba Fett. The six new shorts from Matt Michnovetz will be released on May 4. But while you’re waiting for the new tales, the second season of Andor is still ongoing. Tales of the Underworld is streaming on May 4.
‘Tucci in Italy’ (Season 1)
Streaming May 19
Stanley Tucci is no stranger to Italy. His CNN series Stanley Tucci: Searching for Italy took him to the country in 2021 and 2022. This newest offering from National Geographic is set to highlight the wonderful world of Italian cuisine. Tucci will visit several distinct regions of Italy, taking in the cuisine, culture, history, and landscapes along the way.
“I’m Stanley Tucci, and I believe that the best way to understand what makes a country and its people unique is through their food. And this is true nowhere more than Italy, where even the shape of your pasta and the sauce you serve it with differentiates the character and history of each region sharply from the next. I’m exploring the complex connections between the land, the people, and the food they eat in order to discover the essence of each region in a country I love: Italy.” – Stanley Tucci
Tucci will take viewers to Tuscany, Florence, Siena, Trentino-Alto Adige, Abruzzo, and Lazio. The five-part documentary series is set to debut May 18 on National Geographic, with next-day streaming on Disney+ and Hulu.
‘Minnie’s Bow-Toons: Pet Hotel’ (Season 1)
Streaming May 20
Minnie Mouse is one of the oldest characters in animation, first appearing alongside Mickey in 1928’s Steamboat Willie. That likely makes her older than the target demographic’s great-grandparents. While she’s always been by Mickey’s side, Minnie’s Bow-Toons: Pet Hotel is the only one to feature her name in the title. The series of shorts originally ran on the Disney Junior television network from 2011 to 2016 before being revived as an online series in 2021.
