King Of The Hill Reboot Image Shows First-Look At Hank & His Friends In Modern Times At An Iconic Location

The long-awaited King of the Hill reboot is set to premiere in 2025, and now we have our first official image showing what fans can expect. Originally airing on FOX from 1997 to 2009, King of the Hill is an animated comedy created by Mike Judge and Greg Daniels. It follows the life of propane salesman Hank Hill, his wife Peggy, and their son Bobby through everyday misadventures in the fictional town of Arlen, Texas.

Since a revival was announced, fans have wondered how the new series would honor its predecessor while differentiating itself for the modern TV landscape. After years of waiting, the official poster for the upcoming season has been revealed, reaffirming the King of the Hill revival’s Hulu release window. It features aged versions of Hank and his friends Bill, Dale, and Boomhauer drinking in the famous alley seen in the show’s intro:

What This Image Tells Us About The King Of The Hill Reboot

Time has passed and the world has changed for Hank Hill

This poster’s primary purpose is to convey how much time has passed since the original King of the Hill series. Hank and his friends are noticeably older, and the image is flooded with modern technology as Hank has a baffled expression. Each example seems to match the characters well, with Bill using food and beer delivery, Dale lost in virtual reality, and even Boonhauer calmly checking his iPad.

Mike Judge and Greg Daniels are collaborating on a revival of their popular animated sitcom King of the Hill. Here is what we know so far.

Mike Judge has previously stated that the show would feature a time jump, but it’s fascinating to finally glimpse what it will look like. Most long-running animated sitcoms like The Simpsons, Family Guy, or Bob’s Burgers continually shift the characters to the present day, but very few allow the characters to age like this. It will be interesting to see how the characters have changed and how King of the Hill will incorporate current events.

Our Take On The King Of The Hill Reboot’s First Image

While I understand the concerns of some fans commenting on this image, I personally think it bodes well for the King of the Hill reboot. The small details are nice, but overall, I think this poster perfectly captures the spirit of the original show. Hank Hill is an old-fashioned conservative man set in many of his traditions, so he is constantly confronted by a changing world and generally frustrated by his eccentric friends and family.

King of the Hill‘s revival is expected to premiere sometime in summer 2025.

Setting the first official image in the alley and flooding it with modern technology and distractions makes sense to convey what the first episode will likely address. It’s also just hilarious, which is ultimately the most important part of an animated comedy. I’m now looking forward to seeing what the cast and crew have in store for us when the King of the Hill reboot finally arrives.
