The massive cast announcement for Avengers: Doomsday involved plenty of chairs. And those chairs had names of actors from MCU films such as Captain America: Brave New World, Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, Thunderbolts*, and even Fantastic Four: First Steps emblazoned on them. The large number of characters involved hasn’t stopped the Marvel fanbase from speculating about anyone else who could still be included in the massive event film, as there are plenty of other popular characters who didn’t get a chair of their own in the reveal video. One actor’s social media post has fueled speculation that they’ll be a part of the production.
This time around, it’s Sophia Di Martino from the Disney+ series Loki who’s believed to be playing a part in Avengers: Doomsday. The actor plays Sylvie, a multiversal, female variant of Loki in the two seasons of the series, as she works against (and eventually with) Tom Hiddleston’s God of Mischief to save the TVA and the various timelines. Loki’s Season 2 finale left things open-ended, allowing for Sylvie’s return, meaing an appearance in Doomsday is not out of the question. The social media post made by the actor can be seen below.

Former Marvel Stars Tease Long-Awaited MCU Return With New Social Media Posts
The former Netflix Marvel stars shared posts from New York City, where ‘Daredevil: Born Again’ is being filmed.
The post depicts Di Martino in an unknown location, with only the caption “playgrounds” provided. There isn’t much to go on in this post, but the account and replies to the tweet suggest that (as far as MCU fans are concerned) there is a chance Sylvie could be playing a role in the film. Avengers: Doomsday will feature the appearance of legacy actors from the original X-Men films, meaning that the multiversal aspect could give a reason for Sylvie to return to the MCU. Moreover, there is also the fact that the actor would later delete the post, raising suspicions that she may have revealed something she wasn’t supposed to about her involvement.
‘Avengers: Doomsday’ Could Pick Up Where ‘Loki’ Season 2 Left Off
The ending of Loki Season 2 could end up being one of the most significant plot points that is explored in Avengers: Doomsday, as the finale saw Loki restructuring and bringing the timelines back to life. With all the different timelines now resembling the structure of a tree, Loki holds all the branches of time together, opting to stay alone at the end of time to protect the multiverse. Given the character’s importance to the multiverse saga, the Avengers are surely going to need help from someone who knows what’s going on. Which is how Sylvie could play a role in Doomsday.
Tom Hiddleston has already confirmed that his time in the MCU isn’t over yet, and seeing how crucial his relationship with Sylvie was in the first two seasons of Loki, it’s hard to believe that things wouldn’t be resolved or continued to some extent in the upcoming ensemble film. Joe and Anthony Russo are no strangers to picking up on plot threads from previous films, handling several different storylines from the Guardians of the Galaxy, Thor, and Avengers films in their work on Infinity War and Endgame.
The next two Avengers films, Doomsday and Secret Wars, are shaping up to be the biggest and most ambitious Marvel Studios films to date. The scale and sheer number of characters make the recent announcements of both films being delayed understandable, as these are movies that Disney and Marvel Studios want to take their time with to ensure they work well on narrative and thematic levels. Fans eager for more Marvel stories won’t have to wait long, as Fantastic Four: First Steps is set to be released this summer.
