After an official announcement made by Marvel Studios, Ironheart is finally set to be Disney Plus’ new release within a month. The first three episodes of the series will premiere on June 24, and the hype on the internet has been all over the place-even it was not all in favor.

Ironheart is about Riri Williams, a genius inventor who takes on the legacy of Iron Man, and reception so far has been… convoluted-hype, strong view points, and some dire criticisms. The replies to a tweet by Marvel present an even messier picture of anticipation, boredom, and crude disregard.
An answer had begged, as if pleading for the classical Iron Man appeal: “Please give her the red and gold; it just looks better than the colors in Wakanda Forever.” Consider that fair-Iron Man’s original armor is hard to top; in stark contrast, Riri’s look in ‘Black Panther: Wakanda Forever‘ was purple and silver to the core. Will the show take her away from that look, to something more in line with the original Iron Man color scheme? We really have to wait and see.
Another comment kind of touched upon believability: “My problem with this was the idea someone with nothing other than a car garage and a welder made a suit to rival Iron Man’s. He spent years and was a literal billionaire who improved iteration after iteration.” A valid critique-Tony Stark had almost infinite resources, while Riri’s origin story leans toward the scrappy underdog. Whether the show can sell that leap is one of its biggest challenges.
Then again, not everyone is skeptical. There are those who are very much looking forward to learning more about Riri. “Can’t wait! Excited to learn more about Riri!” exclaimed one excited viewer. An additional comment stated, “I trust in Coogler. I’m excited for her character development,” referring to Ryan Coogler’s involvement in engineering the character’s introduction in ‘Wakanda Forever.’
From that point forward, it’s another story altogether. On the other hand, there were outright dismissals. “I can’t wait to not give a shit about it!!” was bluntly stated. One more person went further: “No thank you this nigga can straight go to hell she won’t even slightly be comparable to Iron Man.” Those insults were not just directed against the character; some comments took a very dark turn, accusing the writers of forced diversity and lazy writing. One particularly vile comment called it “DEI garbage,” which set off a heated argument in reply.
With all this carpet bombing, there is now even confusion over the show’s format. “Is it going to only be 3 episodes?” asked one commenter, picking up on the tweet’s mention of the “3-episode premiere.” Given that Marvel’s recent Disney Plus shows have all been of varying length could suggest either a short season or a staggered rollout.
And then that mammoth pair of trousers is right in the room- MCU. With so many polarizing shows and films having released lately, now there are those who dub this Ironheart with skepticism. “The trailer didn’t get me hyped like I thought it would. I hope Ironheart is actually good,” shared the wary reviewer. The other one worried-out-loud, “The fact that there isn’t enough promotion is concerning.”
Then there are those who attach their hope to this actually becoming a hit. “This is going to be the biggest sleeper hit in the history of Disney+,” one hopeful fan proclaimed.
Human or distant, who will talk about it? Half of this discussion could be considered part of the fight in superhero waters. Then comes real validation on June 24 when the first episodes drop, and the audience gets to decide if Riri Williams belongs beside or is a shameful stain on the Iron Man legacy.

Reactions go from one extreme to the other-the thing about dreams is that they don’t come free. And in Marvel’s case, the cost could very well be winning over an increasingly difficult fanbase.
