Ming-Na Wen Teases Karate Kid Legends With Epic Cast Photo

Ming-Na Wen just recently posted something important on Instagram which opened the floodgates to talk about the ‘Karate Kid’ reboot. The actress uploaded an on-set image with the big guns: Jackie Chan and Ralph Macchio, selling the film for a May 30th release. Madness, right?

In it, Wen poses with Chan, Macchio, and next-gen stars Ben Wang and Sadie Stanley. This was captioned, “We may not look it, but the cast of #KarateKidLegends is VERY EXCITED.” Spoiler: They do look excited. Also, a bit like they’re about to drop the hardest martial arts collab of the decade.

Nostalgia was setting in full force in the comment section. Fans begged for some crazy crossover. One user, @heespharm, buttered it on thick, “The original karate kid gave me confidence as a child being Asian American in the 80s in the Midwest wasn’t easy…so happy to see u in a franchise I love.” Now that’s pure generational impact! @funaticcollector commented afterward, proposing, “Karate Kid x Mighty Ducks next? Sign me up!” Someone get on the horn and call Disney+ ASAP!

However, that hype isn’t just for the U.S. @lovemingnawen was commenting from Brazil: “It premieres on the 8th here. I’m so excited to watch it!”Their excitement is universal, and apparently, they can’t even agree on a release date for the whole world. Then, @andrew_schanht just agreed with how the vibes were with the cast: “Bruh got jackie danielson and Chun Li there to get his back”. Well, true. That one went on into a whirlpool of Mighty Ducks memes and Iron Fist casting demands, all thanks to the internet.

What would be a Ming-Na Wen post without a ooh and ahh over a glow that can never age? @cbgreco stated quite bluntly, “I hope I age as gracefully as you!” Same, honestly. And @ryancole2555 simply put, “The sole reason to see this movie? Ming Na Wen.” Facts can’t be refuted.

What the post gave birth to was quite the speculation. @definitely.not.a.hoarder noted, ‘I hope you’ve got some good elevator music on that pic!’ and @chuck80y chimed in, ‘Was this the elevator beatbox scene?’ We need to know now if there is an elevator scene.

But the real MVP comment award goes to @irl_covertmandalorian for putting two and two together: “Fennec Shand and Mr.Han in a martial arts movie – this is gonna be so peak.” Oh, boy. It is about to go DOWN.

The Karate Kid‘ legacy seems to be in very good hands. Nostalgia? New gen? Or just watch Ming-Na Wen kick ass once again? In all cases, this movie has it all. May 30 cannot come fast enough. Though if you’re in Brazil, please note the relevant date: May 8. So whatever, start stretching.
