New York Knicks Get Roasted After Disappointing Halftime Performance

At halftime of a Knicks game, the team slipped in a little half-time annotation on Twitter that…did not go well in the least. The replies were a buffet of frustration, sarcasm, and rage from the fans who wanted more from their team. And really, can you blame them?

First, seeing the New York Knicks getting destroyed at home was never nice to behold. One user, @DeaconFr0st15, could not contain himself: “The Celtics have embarrassed this team so many times this year. You would think in a game 3 they would show up. They got embarrassed again. How can this team be such a bad home team?” Ouch. That kind of feeling makes you seriously think about uninstalling the app for a couple of hours.

Then, in the midst of wrathful comments, @Truth67001527 pointed to a certain slacking player’s lack of urgency: “He lacked a sense of urgency in his play today and looked away from Kat many times.” Poor chemistry or just a bad night—for the fans, acceptance was not forthcoming. @Stephen28157618 kneed the band for their interminable early-game pace: “This team must get off to better starts. They can’t keep falling behind by double digits before the 1st quarter is over.” It’s as if they come down with some allergy whenever it comes to playing well in the first half.

But the tragic comedy came from those who just gave up on this. @cryformejhor said it all: “What a shit game, wasted my time watching this garbage, I need my time back.” Same here, to be honest. Another set of fans was laughing about the ridiculous big-money ticket prices: “@GozDaPoet: So people paid $700-$1000 to watch this trash from the Knicks lmao.” It cuts much deeper, though, when you had to shell out that much cash to watch your team get humiliated.

Then Celtics fans couldn’t help but cast more than a few sideways glances: @dougmack65 tweeted, “The @nyknicks are getting dragged on their home floor by @celtics like rag dolls.” Brutal, but accurate. Some Knicks fans were starting to turn away from the series too: “The series is officially over now. The Knicks won’t win another game… BOOK IT!” @DaveLowman7575.

Funny thing? The social media already knew this might happen. The good guys posting an at-the-half pic as the bad guys dragged them is basically an invitation to chaos. Chaos did ensue. From “Delete your account” (@ttopwhiskytango) to “COMPLETE FRAUDS” (@JWolf16055567), the mass of replies gave a masterclass in how to channel sports fan outrage.

At this point, the Knicks have two choices: they can either try and turn the tide ASAP or prepare for the worst wave of memes and insults yet. Either way, they definitely won’t be able to live down anytime soon.

So, Knicks fans, maybe take a deep breath before diving into the replies. It looks ugly out there. But hey, the memes are good; well, sort of. For more on the Knicks, check out this: Knicks Win and Fans Are Here for It.
