NBA Hall-of-Famer Scottie Pippen stopped to pay an emotional tribute to his mother on Mother’s Day. In a relatively straightforward post, Pippen declared a Mother’s Day message accompanied by a photograph of his Mama, simply writing, “Thank you mama. Happy mothers day. ❤️.” Immediately upon sharing, the post gained major traction on online platforms, with many users joining the celebration of mothers worldwide; of course, bizarre remarks made their way into the replies as well.

The Sporting Page came early to Shower Pippen with praise. “Great work, respect to you and your family Pip.. you came a long way in life thanks to your parents,” they wrote. This is a nice reminder that behind every icon lies a foundation of family support.
And the craziness began. A simple comment was submitted by a user named Anne in Spanish, which means, “Your mom is so sweet, sending you a hug!” Simple, wholesome, no agenda—just vibes. However, not everybody kept things that clean. The somewhat odd reply took a hard left turn and asked, “Did you buy her a bitcoin, Scottie?” Because nothing says good Mother’s Day like an invitation to invest in a wildly speculative digital asset, right?
Meanwhile, one Canuto Jason Tarango considered it the perfect moment to launch into a biblical deep-dive about weed, ancestors, and redemption. “Yo Scottie bro in Isaiah 27:6-9 kjv it tells us the iniquity of Jacob gets taken away when those from his bloodline do the work,” he started before delivering a full-blown sermon about growing weed as a spiritual calling. That’s… a lot. And honestly, I kind of admire the sheer randomness of it.
Then, of course, in any social media thread, some shilling for crypto just has to pop up. “I hope you bought your mama some XRP🙏🏻,” chimed in another user, because, apparently, the best way to honor the lady who saw you through good times and bad is speculative finance.
But hey, not all responses were crazy. The Green Ranger (yep, that’s the display name) kept it classy with a simple, “Happy Mother’s Day to the moms 🌹,” and included a flower emoji. Sometimes, less truly is more.
Still, his post was a nice, simple tribute to family, which has always been an important part of Pippen’s story. From modest beginnings to NBA greatness, his mother’s influence has always loomed big. And while the internet will forever find a way to derail even the most touchy-feely moments, the heartfelt intent behind his statement is still there to take away.

And at the end of the day, it’s nice to see a living legend like Pippen stopping to show the love where it counts. Even if the comments went sideways, the kernel of appreciation for the ladies that mold us remains intact. Now, somebody please explain that weed scripture thing to me again… slowly.
