Snoop Dogg officially released the video for “Sophisticated Crippn,” and one must say…chaos has been unleashed on the Internet. This announcement by the legend himself on his Instagram has been questioned from every domain possible: art, and how this will finally change the way creations of music-as time goes by.

Packed with Snoop’s West Coast vibes with flickertime in a far-off future, the video features an interaction between a younger version of Snoop and the present Snoop while dropping bars on legacy, loyalty, and just staying real to the game. Some AI effects are good, some are almost way too uncanny-if you get my drift, but that did not stop the endless reactions from pouring in.

One commentator amused himself with, “This man shot an entire video and didn’t even show up for work,” in relation to how Snoop Dogg did not physically have to film much of the said video. “AI Video is creative af,” another posted, while the third one quipped, “My goat using AI for music 😔😔😔😔”.

The other bunch was split between just about nothing and unamused. One irate commenter dubbed it “AI GARBAGE” and asked why it has so few comments. Another came in and said, “Now A.I looks cool cuz snoop using it for his own purpose…not someone using it to fake shit. It looks cool here.”

Snoop’s second release is however really keeping the current train of thought alive, if just for the prompt of AI-music controversy. Some love innovation; one commented, “Snoop is always the first to do iconic stuff like this soon every artist is using Ai.” Others, however, found themselves casting suspicious side eyes, warning, “AI gets out of hand and goodbye [human] photos anymore.”

Basically, mixed reviews aside, one thing is for sure: Snoop is ahead of the curve. You know what, whether you hate it or love it, this guy knows to keep people talking and thus never really planned on playing it safe.

That was one of the many nostalgic moments in the video; one fan remarked, “Would’ve been dope if they both transformed into dogs like in the ‘what’s my name’ video.” Then there was the figure praising the track: “Hold up this song didn’t have to go so hard though.”

New moves such as these ensure new lights and cultures. Whether it is AI, music, or just his unfiltered genuineness, the Doggfather lives a life of his very own. And if history has ever taught anything, the sooner or later, the rest of the industry would be joining in.

What next? More AI experiments? An album full of virtual Snoop? I’m just wondering if we can wait for the next few hours?
