Summer House Season 9 Episode 15 Recap: Summer Scaries

Welcome to the recap for Summer House Season 9, Episode 15. Last week, Lexi and Jesse officially went to Splitsville when Lexi broke it off for good. However, Ciara became an unwilling participant in their drama when Jesse said Lexi wasn’t a fan of their rekindled friendship. And speaking of splitting up, Lindsay hosted a freedom dinner to celebrate her accomplishments since Carl broke up with her. Would Paige be joining in on the breakup trend next? Here’s exactly what went down in Summer House Season 9, Episode 15: “Summer Scaries.”

This might have been the finale, but it was filled with new beginnings. Lexi and Jesse navigated their newfound freedom from each other, with Jesse shocking Lexi by jumping right back into the dating pool. Lindsay pondered what her next chapter would be after she had her baby. Would she return to the house next summer? And finally, Paige provided a play-by-play of the aftermath of her breakup with Craig and dropped the bomb that he had plans to propose to her.

The freedom dinner was still in full swing, with Lexi telling Ciara she didn’t trust her. Lexi said, “I just feel like things that I’ve heard all summer, it’s like you guys are taking it like too far. And it’s weird, and because of that, I haven’t been able to bond with you all summer.”

Ciara had a different take. She explained that Lexi was too focused on Jesse and didn’t interact with anyone else. Then she added that when she was dating West, he still made an effort with the rest of the group.

Feeling empowered by Ciara’s praise, West wondered why Lexi broke up with Jesse since they just got back together. Apparently, he hadn’t heard about Jesse’s 9pm manicure. West said, “He wants to hang out with you too much but also treat you like sh*t. What?” Gabby chimed in, “Shut up, West.”

Things started to settle down until Lexi also told West to shut it. Then Ciara came to his rescue. She was proud of the way he defended Jesse to the group. Gabby snarked, “I’m not going to give credit for mediocrity, but sure.” Lexi had at least one person in her corner.

Later on, Paige comforted Jesse on the couch. She said she felt like he didn’t do anything wrong. She would’ve been totally cool if Craig had talked about her behind her back and walked into a threesome to get his toe sucked, right? Paige told him, “You guys just went too quick, too hard.”

Ciara and Amanda also joined Team Jesse, although Ciara still had her boundaries up. Jesse joked not to flirt with him, and she jumped back and said, “Don’t even hug me!” Amanda noticed the flirting and quipped, “The body’s not even cold yet!”

Jesse had the breakup blues

That evening the guys went out to party while the girls chilled in bed. Imrul obeyed the new rules and came back in the middle of the night with no arrows following behind him. But was it enough to secure him a second season?

Paige had trouble sleeping. She said, “The Giggly Squad tour is starting in ten days, and I feel a little sad that I am not as excited as I might be. I’m definitely way more anxious than I am excited … So I’m trying to stay present and not think about ‘Is Craig okay? Is Craig mad about it?’ It’s too much.” Foreshadowing!

The next morning Jesse was still shook. He said, “I can’t believe this is how it’s gonna end. Lexi thinks, ‘I’d rather have loved and lost than to not have loved at all.’ And now, that sounds dumb as sh*t. I would rather not loved at all.” The joys of a showmance.

Lexi decided to make good on her promise to make more of an effort with the girls, so she decided to hide in her room instead of having breakfast with the group. She said, “Jesse is the closest person to me in the house, even friendship-wise … I feel like he would be who I run to, and I can’t run to him. So I just feel really, really lonely.” Totally dismissing that Lindsay and Gabby continuously checked up on her.

Meanwhile, Jesse and West were setting up their scary-themed party. Not one to miss out, founder and CEO Danielle showed up, hoping to get back her full-time spot next summer since Imrul was a bust. When Lexi told her she broke up with Jesse, Danielle asked deadpan, “Again?”

Everyone arrived in their scariest costumes. And for Ciara, that was “Brantley,” a trust fund day trader. Shudder. Lindsay, Danielle, and Kyle all discussed that things were going to be mighty different next year, although Lindsay seemed to be in denial.

Lindsay said, “I’m in the process of going through an identity crisis. Think about it, this is a huge transitional year for me. Like becoming a mom is a huge transition in of itself. Then it’s not like I can live in a party share house, right? … Where do I go from here?”

Jesse quickly got over his sorrows once he was surrounded by a bevy of blondes. Paige told Amanda and Ciara, “Wow, Jesse’s really getting right back into it.” And Lexi was not happy.

The two soon had a confrontation in the kitchen. Jesse was hopeful they could be friends, but Lexi felt like there was too much mistrust. They came to blows when their character came into question. Jesse didn’t like being branded a liar, and Lexi didn’t like being called jealous.

A frustrated Jesse said, “We’re on a f*cking reality show! I’m talking to my friends about my relationship. It’s a concern. I asked my friends for their advice, and you take that as like I’m calling you jealous, insecure. I’m not. You’ll watch the show back, and you’ll see how much I care about you.” But Lexi wasn’t a believer.

Afterwards, Ciara swept some girls away from Jesse with her broom to protect Lexi. She then met up with Amanda and Paige. Summer was officially over, and they promised to stay in touch. Lindsay noted, “This was my little bubble of happiness before sh*t gets real.” Cut to three months later …

Paige gives her side of the story

Sh*t got very real. Lindsay rolled her suitcase into the hospital, and the next morning she was holding baby Gemma safely in her arms. Time to grab the tissues! Lindsay said, “You know when you hear parents being like, ‘I’ve never felt a love like this before,’ and you’re like, ‘Okay, blah blah, whatever.’ It’s so true! I look at her, and I just melt.”

Then, bam! We got more flash forwards in time than in a Christopher Nolan film. Paige and Craig’s breakup was all over the news. So, Paige met up with Lindsay and Amanda to talk about it.

Lindsay popped the champs and busted out the caviar. She explained her life was like Groundhog’s Day. Accurate. However, she had her concerns about Turner. She said, “If I didn’t get pregnant, I don’t know if we would have stayed together.”

After trying a shot of Lindsay’s breast milk, Paige told the girls breaking up with Craig was the right thing to do. She said, “I don’t think I’m feeling the things I’m supposed to be feeling if we’re thinking about getting engaged in the next year.” Then Paige dropped the bomb that Craig told her, “I really wish you didn’t do this before you saw the ring.”

Once the news broke, the cheating rumors began. Paige said she asked Craig to defend her, which he did not. And they hadn’t talked since.

Paige concluded their 30s were not what they expected, but better. The three cheered to each other, then Lindsay asked, “Should we get more milk?”

Summer House continues Wednesdays at 9/8c on Bravo and streams on Hayu in the UK and Ireland.
