After SZA dropped a barrel-full of gratitude for the first couple of awards and threw in that whistle note-shock, the social media platforms appeared to be rioting! The singer went to Instagram to thank her team, her fans, and ironically thanked AMAs with sincere excitement in true SZA style. Then, the comments section turned into a party, with users hurling jokes and screaming half about something else-almost.

The energy in SZA’s post was utter joy. She went on to thank her camp as well as the AMAs for giving them this honor, and while being hyped, she said in all caps because lowercase can’t do justice in such an energetic moment: “THANK YOU SO MUCH CAMP AND @amas for THIS HONOR ! These are our first awards as a ⛺️CAMMPP YALL ATE THAT FOR ME 🤭I LOVE YOU ALWAYS !! headed to phoenix to play tomorrow! Can’t wait to see everyone ❤️” Typical SZA: a lil thankful, a lil ragging along in the moment, and so ready to get to her next show.
That high note she just threw in the video took center stage now. The fans were NOT prepared for it. One user hollered, “THE VIDEO IS SO FUNNY DUDE😭,” while another one went, “Haven’t heard a whistle note like that since Joni dropped😩.” Another fan sadly exclaimed: “GIRL YOU ATE THAT NOTEEEEE WHAAAAAAT ⛺️.” Somewhat fitting.
All the while began the debate. A very playful one came from one person: “body tea, she gets money, & vocals are like homey!!” But some actually wanted some clarity: “So the body is still considered ‘Tea’ even if it’s fake? Genuinely curious.” And that was all the chaos they needed. The responses were mixed: replying back with “who lied to u and said that” to “she was tea before shes still tea after.” Honestly? Exactly the sort of discussion one least expects, but you be the judge.
Latto dropped with the ultimate hype: “Wym ‘almost’ u hit that note effortlessly 💅;” and the replies continued to be the best. “Like with no struggle AT ALL 😭,” one fan said, while another replied, “i was just gonna say … girrrlllll she killed it ✨.” There you have it: SZA didn’t just hit it, she OWNED it.
Put down the Joker pic, and that was just one amongst a sea of random iconic moments.
Someone scared, ADHD in Slide 10 was relatable, and someone had to shout out to the vintage S. Gang tee: “How do you still have that !?? You keep everything man. 🤯🔥🔥🔥.”
One thing that through the chaos of these comments is so clear is that SZA fans are die hard. From those proud “my GOAT” comments to the “body and face as always” screams, sparks of love jump from one side of the ocean to the other for another suggested occasion. And with her heading to Phoenix for a show, you already know the energy is gonna triple in magnitude.

And so awards won, high notes sang, and debates started-intended to be a day of SZA and the die-hards. Oh, and honestly? We wouldn’t exchange it for the world.
