Taylor Swift’s Rep Taunts Subpoena in Blake Lively Case

The lawsuit drama between Blake Lively and Justin Baldoni dragged Taylor Swift, with the director’s legal team calling the singer for a subpoena. Swift’s representatives, however, taunted Baldoni’s team, denouncing the move as nothing more than a bid for headlines. According to the singer’s team, her only contribution to “It Ends With Us” was licensing her song “My Tears Ricochet” along with 19 other artists.

Taylor Swift’s spokesperson calls the subpoena a ‘tabloid clickbait’

Taylor Swift’s rep branded her subpoena in the Blake Lively-Justin Baldoni lawsuit as “tabloid clickbait.” The pop sensation’s team argued minimal involvement in the escalating legal drama. After Swift was subpoenaed in the feud, Baldoni’s team was met with a sharp response from Swift’s spokesperson. They claimed Swift’s complicity in the lawsuit was an attempt to generate headlines rather than disclose facts.

As per “Good Morning America,” the spokesperson stated, “Taylor Swift never set foot on the set of this movie, she was not involved in any casting or creative decisions.” They added, “She did not score the film, she never saw an edit or made any notes on the film, she did not even see ’It Ends With Us’ until weeks after its public release.”

The spokesperson further underscored Swift’s commitment to her The Eras Tour, remarking how she was “traveling around the globe during 2023 and 2024 headlining the biggest tour in history.” Moreover, her only participation in the film was using her song “My Tears Ricochet,” a contribution that 19 other artists also made. Lively’s spokesperson echoed the sentiment, saying how Baldoni and his team “continue to turn a case of sexual harassment and retaliation into entertainment for the tabloids.”

Citing the Swift subpoena, they added, “This is a very serious legal matter, not Barnum & Bailey’s Circus.” Additionally, Mike Gottlieb, Lively’s attorney, had previously stated, “You can’t just go around subpoenaing people because they’re famous and you think it will generate a bunch of headlines.” While the lawsuit between Blake Lively and Justin Baldoni grinds towards the trial date (March 9, 2026), Taylor Swift’s representatives are clear that the pop star’s name is being used for clout, not substance.
