THIS IS RIDICULOUS: Democrat Jamie Raskin, ‘Kilmar Garcia had no association with a criminal gang’
In yet another demonstration of the ideological disconnect of the left with the criminal reality that Latin America is going through, Democrat Congressman Jamie Raskin alleges that a Venezuelan citizen, Kilmar García, was deported to El Salvador for links to the Tren de Aragua. What is truly ridiculous, however, is Raskin’s argument and his attempt to victimize someone who, although according to Raskin had no visible criminal record, was part of an operation against a transnational crime network.
Kilmar García was arrested and deported as part of an international cooperation effort between the United States and El Salvador, led by President Nayib Bukele. According to the Democrats, García had no open legal process and the only “evidence” of association with a gang would be a tattoo of a crowned soccer ball, symbol of Real Madrid. With that information, progressives now want to delegitimize the entire security strategy that has managed to reduce homicides, extortion, and kidnappings in El Salvador.
Raskin, instead of worrying about the real victims of organized crime —destroyed families, extorted businesses, children forcibly recruited by gangs— chooses to launch attacks against a key ally in the regional fight against drug trafficking and illegal migration. He does so from a comfortable position, without facing the real consequences of the violence that affects countries like Venezuela, Honduras, Colombia, or El Salvador.
Raskin’s argument is the progressive favorite: focus on a supposed “mistake” to disqualify an entire policy. But what they don’t say is that criminal networks use every gap in the immigration system to infiltrate criminals, who often have no registered record but are active members of violent groups. That is why serious countries take precautions. And that is precisely why Nayib Bukele has regained control of his nation.
It is also alarming that the same party that opened the southern U.S. border to millions without documents now wants to turn any attempt to protect national security into an “abuse of human rights.” That is how the Democratic Party has operated under Biden: open borders, impunity for cartels, and constant attacks on those who seek to enforce the law.
The truth is, this is not about a soccer ball. It is about an ideology that prefers to defend the suspect rather than the common citizen. And that moral relativism has a cost: thousands of lives ruined by crime that, according to the Democrats, must be treated with sensitivity instead of firmness.
Bukele is not carrying out raids on a whim. He is dismantling mafia structures that for years controlled entire territories. If the price of that is that allies make some isolated mistake, let it be investigated and corrected. But turning that case into a symbol of “injustice” is, indeed, RIDICULOUS.
