Below Deck Season 12 Predictions After Episode 1

Following a supersized first episode, Below Deck Season 12 is off to the nautical races. With two returning yachties and seven fresh new faces, the drama is already present and accounted for, which, good luck with that, Captain Kerry Titheradge.

So far, every department contains at least one proudly waving red flag. In the interior, Fraser Olender has three lovely ladies to work with. However, one is green, and the other has a ton of experience. Regardless, their methods of communication are equally assertive, which already has both parties on edge.

As for the exterior, Caio Poltronieri is an experienced bosun, but he has never worked on a yacht of this size before, he admits during Episode 1. Sure enough, viewers quickly learned that this man was in over his head. This same narrative also sounded for our new chef, Lawrence Snowden. Lawrence hates the cameras and already wants to quit, which is wild, as he only has one episode in the can to write home about.

Overall, Bravo packed a lot of punch into the premiere episode of Below Deck Season 12. And now, we have a few predictions about how the rest of this season might play out.

Chef Lawrence Snowden will leave Below Deck Season 12 early

Lawrence is an experienced chef. His dishes look incredible and are (mostly) loved by his guests. Well, minus his steaks, which came out cold and slightly pink. The cold complaint is valid, sure, but regarding the coloring of these steaks, we cannot fault Lawrence for trying to avoid serving his primary guest their terrible request, otherwise known as an overly well-done slab.

I will now die on my pink is the only way hill. But as I perish, I cannot help but recall how Lawrence was also slowly passing away during filming. His kitchen is unorganized. Meanwhile, his stove does not work as he likes, nor do the camera crews, who are in his face 24/7, already refusing to grant him space when asked.

More than once in Episode 1, Lawrence asked his camera operators to leave him alone. They refused until the very end, sending in a member of production who explained that their lenses must stay on. As the credits rolled, Captain Kerry joined this saga in the kitchen, where Lawrence revealed that he wanted to quit. Whether he quits or gets fired later on, we predict that Lawrence will not make it to the end of this season.

To add to this prediction, I suspect Chef Anthony Iracane might take his spot. Anthony got fired last season after dropping the ball several times, but his character was solid. He also follows cast members from this new season, which makes us further suspect that his redemption era might be nearer than we think.

Bárbara Kulaif and Solène Favreau will be at odds all throughout Season 12 on Below Deck

Bárbara Kulaif is an experienced stew, unlike Solène Favreau. Already, these two women are at odds, but I also suspect that they are more alike than they are different.

Nevertheless, after Bárbara received instruction from their boss, Fraser, regarding how to fold a particular item, Solène somewhat challenged her tutorial on this process, questioning whether Fraser ordered this lesson for Bárbara to teach her or not. Once Bárbara acknowledged that Fraser had indeed given her the final word on how to fold this item, Solène caved. She even took out her cell phone to record this process.

However, Bárbara remained on edge long enough to find Fraser and relay this entire narrative. Throughout the rest of Episode 1, minor misfires continued flaring between Bárbara and Solène, which has us predicting that they might remain at odds throughout the entirety of Below Deck Season 12. Nevertheless, I would LOVE to be wrong on this prediction because both Bárbara and Solène seem like a good time.

Throwing a wrench in my thoughts, Solène lists Bárbara as her best friend on her Bravo bio. Bárbara, however, only lists Fraser and Damo Yorg on hers. This oversight is either an unintended diss or, simply put, Bárbara is not feeling the love as strongly as Solène.

The final prediction after watching Below Deck Season 12 Episode 1 lands on Caio, our newest bosun in this franchise. My first impressions of Caio were solid. He listens, takes orders, and delegates as needed. He even boarded the yacht earlier than the others, as Captain Kerry needed him onboard to help relocate the boat to an anchored spot following a forecast of high winds.

But after the first few scenes flashed by, Caio himself admitted that he was in over his head. The superyacht St. David has too many moving pieces, he stressed. Therefore, certain aspects of his job are falling through the cracks. Coming in as our first big misstep of the season, Caio left the luggage of their first charter guests on the pier, where they boarded the tender to get to the yacht.

This oversight meant that Captain Kerry had to call a third-party vendor back on land to motor these suitcases over to their yacht. If Caio continues like this, we predict he might get the boot from Below Deck Season 12. In his place, we could easily see Jess Theron stepping up. She has already worked as a bosun, and so far, her team respects her input.

Below Deck continues Mondays at 8/7c on Bravo. Below Deck can also be streamed on Hayu in the UK and Ireland.
