After the liberal upsets in Moldova and Romenia elections, a conservative victory in Poland shows that patriots are still a major force in Europe.
After a tight electoral race, the polls predicted that the run-off of Poland’s Presidential election would be very close.
As many other elections, the establishment Liberal-Globalists were facing the populist-rightwing patriots who refuse to surrender their national sovereignty: the pro-European mayor allied with Prime Minister Donald Tusk against a conservative ally of current President Andrzej Duda.
The US Donald J. Trump administration came in to play, and openly endorsed the conservative PiS candidate Karol Nawrocki – a support that included the prospect of closer military ties.
The big day came, and the first exit polls predicted the victory of liberal Warsaw mayor Rafał Trzaskowski.
But, as the vote counting progressed, the expectations were reversed, and in the trade website Polymarket the odds of Nawrocki surged to victory mid-afternoon.

Politico reported:
“Right-wing candidate Karol Nawrocki is leading centrist Rafał Trzaskowski by 51 percent to 49 percent in Poland’s presidential election, according to a final exit poll released early Monday morning.
The country’s electoral commission says final results of the vote count will be announced later on Monday. With 55 percent of the votes counted, Nawrocki was ahead by 54.67 percent to 45.33 percent.”
