The Gil’s Arena editors are really good at throwing a party, as was clear by the hilarious early-birthday surprise for Nick Young. The Instagram post showed Swaggy P being showered with love, steak, and some silly cake from which everyone made jokes.

According to the transcript of the video, this was not anywhere near your usual birthday blowout. The crew roasted Young big time, making jokes about him supposedly not being able to read and his age. Young clapped back, “I’m about to be 40. I am not a little normal,” which pretty much solidified his role both as someone who can take jokes and throw them back. Another great one: when the cake was brought out, Young deadpanned, “Thought somebody was gonna pop out the mother of the fing.” Classic Swaggy style.
The comments from the viewers were thriving on the vibe. One user joked, “Thought that was Topanga.” Another chimed in, “We know you can’t read,” fitting right into the show’s sarcastic disses. This kind of mischievous show of disrespect is what sells, suggested somebody else, “This show will put ESPN out of business someday.” In all seriousness, big shout out to Gil’s Arena, which has quickly become a fan favorite for its unfiltered and snarky comedy.
But sadly, not everybody was convinced by the cake surprise. “Bro we needed a big booty stripper,” lamented one gloomy commentator. “I thought it was gonna be the ghost of Kobe,” added another, showing the widely scattered expectations. But that very moment seemed to have reached Young’s heart deep down, if only he secretly wished for something bigger, poppin’ to say the least.
Young was basking in the good vibes as comments filled up with birthday wishes. “Happy bday Nick! You funny mf lol,” one fan exclaimed, one guy chimed in calling him “a legend.” Jabs came from the heart as well; one sneered, “Still playin wit dem bunny’s,” referring to Young’s iconic rabbit-ear celebration.
Gil’s Arena affirms itself as one of the utmost entertaining basketball shows. Roasting, surprises, that chemistry among the hosts-not to mention, this birthday bash is the epitome of prime content. Real talk: Anybody that can laugh at themselves to that degree is a big win from our standpoint.
