Jameis Winston, quarterback of the New Orleans Saints, was glorifying his mammoth faith as he shared a very potent message with his audience across his social media platforms. The football guy posted a video surrounded by advertisements for Three Nails Clothing, a brand with which Winston feels is in sync with his spiritual values. In passionately succinct terms, Winston goes about giving his account of why society’s message through this attire strikes him too hard.

The video starts with Winston holding a product from the brand, drawn to the scripture Matthew 6:33 engraved on it-“Seek first the kingdom of God and all His righteousness.” For Winston, that scripture made more sense than putting it on a garment; it was about living that lifestyle. “I love to serve Christ and to live that life of His,” explained Winston. “When I saw that, I was like, well, this is something that I’m gonna put on. This is something that I want to represent.”
Captioned: “The message is bigger than the moment,” the post soon broke the record of attention from fans and supporters who appreciate Winston being open about faith. Congruent with his feelings, many flooded the comments with praises. An Instagram user penned, “Huge!! Best in the game! God did!,” while another shared, “Love it Jaboo!! All for His Glory!” Suffice it to say that not all were happy with his spiritual stand; instead, a few just wanted to see him unleash that contagious joy: “Love this!! Your joy is contagious,” stated one.
Others could not miss the opportunity to emphasize Winston’s influence beyond football: “Jameis Winston, NFL Quarterback… Man Of The People! A Million Percent.” There was even a lighthearted pledge by a follower which reads, “If Jameis tells me to wear it, I will.”
His influence goes beyond the field, and this is just one more way Winston chooses to influence using his platform. And whether it is via his play, philanthropy, or faith, the quarterback continues to affect lives. It is pretty evident to all who follow closely that his message, just like the scripture on his shirt, is one that cut deep.
Winston’s authenticity, as seen from his posts, strikes a chord deep within the hearts of the people. The downpour of blessings with tears, followed by nostalgic shoutouts like, “I met you @ 2012 ESPYS in Los Angeles one year and damn it you balled every year!!!” is proof that Winston’s fans appreciate him beyond the athlete; they appreciate him as a person.

All in all, it was worthwhile for the brand. It was also a reminder of those forces that carry his whole life both on the chains and off the chains. Judging from the comments, where those forces find him is where his supporters will always be found.
