During a casual Instagram Live session, former Potomac housewife Monique Samuels dropped a bombshell about returning to reality TV. But this isn’t the Monique that viewers have seen for, like, five years. The entrepreneur and self-care advocate related that she would be making her limited return after years of personal growth, healing from trauma, and building multiple successful ventures.

Samuels was looking absolutely radiant as she waited in her car for her daughter after dance class, her hair freshly twisted that very morning by Herself. While chilling in the city sidelines, she casually dropped the bombshell: This year alone, she had declined seven other opportunities to return before finally saying yes. “I’m not the person that I was,” she reflected. “And a lot of the reasons that I said no was because of the person that I was.”
“This marked the turning point for her in principle,” She shared that she had been “running from the platform that gave me a foundation” because of fear and PTSD from her previous experience. But now, with her oils company, Mielle Organics, “doing big things” (and of course, she plugged the 20% off promo code “IMBACK20”), and a book called Love Letters from Versions of Myself that she is going to be releasing, she feels ready to dip her toe back in. “I have nothing to prove,” she said, with great confidence.
That went into the details of Samuels describing how she left “angry and bitter.” But now she’s excited to be filming again. So much more so that she decided that last week was when she made her firm decision to return. “What do I have to lose?” she remembered thinking.
She insisted she would not return as a full-time housewife (“I don’t want to be that person again”), but then taunted, “There’s a difference in me than what you saw five years ago.” This transition was felt even in the smaller capacity during the live session, where she smoothly transitioned from deep reflection on personal growth to animated endorsement of the Flawless Collection skincare line.
From there, the announcement shot around all over social media, with one long-time fan proclaiming, “We’ve been praying for this return! Your growth is inspiring.” Samuels answered with, “The prayers have been answered.” Another jokingly asked if Samuels was going to bring back that infamous binder from RHOP days, with Samuels laughing and confirming, “I do still have the binder.”
Indeed, what is biggest and most impressive about Samuels’ comeback story isn’t just about the comeback itself but the radically different energy she’s carrying with her. She even went on to explain–it’s the challenges of life-whether from “haters” or from your own loved ones–that become necessary mirrors for growth. “You call in exactly what it is you need in life,” she shared, giving insights into how her soon-to-be-released book delves into this exploration of self-discovery.
Interspersed with juggling multiple businesses and co-parenting her children-now alongside a surprise television return-Samuels seems to be reaching this hard-won balance. Last August, she exited radio so that she could stand present for her kids during custody weeks, and she will move forward in the same way with this new TV comeback. “I move when I want to move,” she said about her newfound freedom. “When I don’t want to move, I ain’t moving.”

Samuels closed out the live with a glow by shouting the promo code for 20% off and sharing more skincare tips (a little heads-up on the turmeric mask and glow toner). Samuels’ energy was contagious! This woman who once swore she’d never return opened the door wide by saying never ever again. That just leaves room for anything that might come her way in this unexpected new chapter. From anger and acceptance to an enthusiastic return charts a path for her story that shows sometimes the very things that we run from with the most ferocity are exactly what need to be circled back to-but only when the time and mindset are right.
