Why Shannon Beador Quit Dating for a Year

Real Housewives of Orange County’s Shannon Beador didn’t just avoid jail time after her DUI, she also avoided dating. She weighed the decision to refrain from dating heavily before committing to it. And in the year after her September 2023 DUI arrest, Shannon has lived as a single woman.

Many RHOC fans praised Shannon for how she handled herself this past season. It turns out that the personal decision to refrain from dating also gave her a very positive perspective during that turbulent time.

Shannon Beador is “happy” post-DUI

Shannon exclusively told Page Six’s Virtual Reali-Tea podcast co-hosts Evan Real and Danny Murphy, that the decision turned out to be a “positive” one. The self-proclaimed “relationship girl” saw a lot of personal growth from the decision.

“I am good being by myself,” she said. Oh, this must be a new development. “I am comfortable with that. So, that’s a lot of growth for me.”

Shannon continued, “I used to identify with the relationships that I was in. I can honestly say that today and in these last two years I’ve never been happier.”

In an April episode of the LadyGang podcast, Shannon reflected on how her focus on staying with her ex allegedly poisoned her decision making.

“I stayed in a relationship that I knew wasn’t healthy, and I made the choices,” she said. “Nobody put a gun to my head and said, ‘Get in the car.’ I did it, and I’ll own it over and over again.”

Now that her dry spell is over, Shannon is back in the dating game.
