Beautiful Spanish town offers up to £5,000 to move there | Travel News | Travel

A stunning tranquil corner of Spain is tempting Britons with up to £5,194 to relocate there, plus an additional windfall for each new arrival to your family. The picturesque region of Ponga in Asturias is dangling £2,597 before British residents willing to make the move, with an identical sum awarded for every child born there.

The area also presents affordable social housing at just £41.64 monthly for entrepreneurs keen to launch ventures or initiatives within the village. To qualify for these attractive terms, Britons must pledge to remain in Ponga for a minimum of five years.

Yet this requirement hardly presents a hardship: Ponga boasts breathtaking scenery featuring spectacular walking trails, convenient access to some of the globe’s most magnificent coastlines, and exceptional birdwatching opportunities.

Wayne Mills, Head of Operations at Seven Seas Worldwide, commented: “Ponga is a little off the beaten track for tourists, but its mountainous landscape is absolutely jaw-dropping.

“It’s the perfect place to live in tune with nature – and the region produces amazing wines! It’s a win-win: you get a fresh start and a helping hand, while local economies enjoy a much-needed boost.”

The town is nestled within a UNESCO-recognised biosphere reserve in the encompassing Cantabrian Mountains. The region presents an array of splendid hikes through fields of wildflowers and gently flowing rivers, all set against the backdrop of towering mountains.

One such trek is the 9.2-kilometre circular Ruta del Valle de Ponga route, which commences just outside San Juan de Beleño, conveniently close to the town hall, before meandering through the surrounding woodland.

With a moderate difficulty level, this path sees a surge of popularity during the summer months, though it becomes more tranquil during the shoulder season.

Open throughout the year, the trail offers stunning views – regardless of the season. Dogs are permitted, provided they are kept on a lead.

In addition to its picturesque landscape, Ponga boasts an impressive 2,000 hours of sunshine annually, providing ample opportunity for sun worshippers to bask in the warmth.
