MCU star Chris Hemsworth will continue to cement himself as one of Hollywood’s favorite action heroes with the upcoming Amazon action thriller, Subversion. And we now know who will join him on this Die Hard-esque adventure into the depths.
Set to be directed by Patrick Vollrath for Amazon MGM, and written by Andrew Ferguson, Subversion has been described as “Die Hard on a submarine,” with The Hollywood Reporter revealing that the thriller “follows a once-promising naval commander (Hemsworth) who is blackmailed by a cartel-like organization into piloting a dangerous submarine carrying illegal cargo across international waters.
“Thrust into a high-stakes game of cat and mouse with a Coast Guard officer (James) in hot pursuit, the commander must outmaneuver blockades and navigate perilous threats both inside and outside the submarine.”
And the action outing has now taken things up a gear with the addition of Baby Driver star Lily James, who will join Hemsworth in this high-stakes, claustrophobic action thriller. James is no stranger to the world of action, having starred in director Edgar Wright’s action heist flick. She will also lead the upcoming remake of Sylvester Stallone’s ‘90s action adventure, Cliffhanger, alongside Pierce Brosnan. Her other best-known credits include Darkest Hour, Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again, Yesterday, The Iron Claw, and Pam & Tommy, the latter of which earned her both Golden Globe and Primetime Emmy Award nominations.
