A Final Fantasy 7 Remake trilogy fan has made a bold prediction for the third game’s title. The FF7 remake effort has, to date, followed a pretty predictable naming convention: each game gets a subtitle that includes a word beginning with “re-.” That obviously began with Final Fantasy 7 Remake, then Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth followed suit. Even the spinoffs have gotten in on the fun, with the release of Crisis Core: Final Fantasy 7 Reunion in 2022. At this point, we know relatively little about FF7 Remake part three, but fans have already begun to speculate about its title.
Reddit user Rebourne25 recently posted a thread entitled, “Calling it now, VII Remake part 3 will be called ‘Reclaim.’” This prediction is based on Sephiroth’s desire to “take the Planet back” with the help of Jenova – in other words, to reclaim it. Of course, we can neither confirm nor deny this prediction – it’s based entirely on one fan’s theory. But when you compare it to the story elements that’ll be adapted in part three of the remake trilogy, it does start to make sense.
One FF Fan Believes Part 3 Will Be FF7 Reclaim
And Other Fan Theories
Now, the crux of this theory is that FF7 revolves around Sephiroth’s attempt to reclaim the Planet, his lineage, and his legacy. But of course, the title can also be interpreted in various ways that all fit with the final chapters of FF7: the player party’s effort to reclaim the Planet from Sephiroth, or even from Shinra, or even the Planet’s own effort to reclaim itself, as it very much does in the cryptic ending of the original FF7.

Final Fantasy 7 Remake Part 3 Needs To Release In 2025 Otherwise It Could Fail
Final Fantasy 7 Remake Part 3 is a highly anticipated game, but if it takes too long to release, it could see its sales dwindle significantly.
But it goes even deeper. If the FF7 remake trilogy is doing the kind of continuity-changing, story-altering, dimension-hopping thing it’s already begun to tease in the first two parts, Reclaim could take on a whole new meaning. It could also refer to Cloud’s effort to reclaim history, to reverse the worst outcomes of Rebirth‘s events and create a better world.
Many fans have latched onto this theory, but others aren’t so sure. For my money, I used to believe that the third part of the remake trilogy would be called FF7 Reunion, referring to the concept of Reunion Theory in FF7 lore, as well as a potential Cloud-Aerith reunion. This would also represent a reunion between timelines, which would make it the perfect triple entendre – exactly the kind of thought-provoking title the final part of the trilogy deserves. But, as commenter Fantastic_Clothes514 helpfully points out, “They already used that for Crisis Core.”
Other users implicitly acknowledge that we have no idea what part three’s title will be by joking about it instead. HMush jokingly suggests Final Fantasy 7 Revengeance, punning on Metal Gear Rising‘s subtitle, while Et_Crudites suggests it’ll be ReFantazio.
Our Take: It’s Not A Bad Prediction Before FF7 Part 3’s Title Is Revealed
Just One Problem
That said, Reclaim is a pretty intriguing proposition for part three’s title. I have just one issue with it: the subtitles for the first two parts have both been nouns -Remake and Rebirth. Reclaim is a verb, which feels awkward tacked onto the end of a title like that. I might propose Final Fantasy 7 Reclamation instead, which maintains the same meaning while preserving parallel title structure between all three games.

Will FF7 Remake Part 3 Be Open World? I Sure Hope Not
The open world of Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth is beautiful, but that doesn’t mean that part 3 needs to copy it when it should focus on story instead.
Even so, I haven’t totally dismissed the Reunion theory, and there’s a distinct possibility that part three’s title could be something else entirely. Ultimately, it’s a little too early to tell. Square Enix has revealed relatively little about the third part of Final Fantasy 7 Remake at this point – we’ll have to wait for a proper trailer to determine whether this theory is true.
