The Season 7 feud between Julia Lemigova and Guerdy Abraira reached a boiling point on Real Housewives of Miami this week. On the most recent episode, Guerdy exposed her texts with Julia at her event. Most of the RHOM ladies freaked out. Marysol Patton was particularly over the top, comparing it to the finale of Carrie. They dramatically stormed out and chastised the RHOM cast members who stayed behind. Some viewers also thought Guerdy went too far. In my opinion, however, Guerdy was holding Julia accountable for breaking their truce. Let me explain.
Real Housewives of Miami’s Julia Lemigova and Guerdy Abraira are fighting once again
Julia and Guerdy have been feuding all season long. Guerdy exposing their texts was just the latest move. At first, Julia claimed it was because of Guerdy’s reaction to her adoption news. Then, it turned out the drama was actually over a cruise. As their texts showed, Julia was the one who asked Guerdy to come on the cruise.
Julia publicly humiliated Guerdy by dumping a glass of water on her at Marysol’s wedding. Now, Alexia Nepola says she wishes she would’ve stood up for Guerdy more. But at the time, as Guerdy’s husband Russell Abraira pointed out, no one had her back.
The next week, Julia started crying about it at her opera lessons. Almost as if she were the one who had a glass of water poured on her. Julia didn’t take accountability for that action. Or, later on, for breaking their truce.
Julia Lemigova broke the truce between the two
Julia and Guerdy met over lunch and came to a tentative truce. They both agreed to only discuss their issues amongst themselves, instead of in front of the whole group.
However, Julia almost immediately broke that truce and once again singled Guerdy out at an event. At Alexia’s narcissism party, Julia asked the expert what to do if someone hurt you and only “partially” apologized. Guerdy was caught off guard, as this was literally the opposite of what Julia promised do. Guerdy also told the expert that there was a ton of missing context behind Julia’s question.
So, it’s a little hypocritical that Guerdy was accused of publicly humiliating Julia, while the group looked the other way at Julia’s actions. In fact, Guerdy initially wasn’t going to expose the texts. It wasn’t until after she talked to Russell about his conversation with Julia.
Did Guerdy overreact? Was it not the most appropriate venue? Maybe. But it was Guerdy’s own party. And as she said, she had to do something drastic, because none of the ladies would listen to her. For instance, when her and Alexia had lunch, Alexia wrote off what Guerdy said because she “overreacts.” Nevermind that Alexia overreacts herself. I think it’s understandable that Guerdy got frustrated with no one holding Julia accountable.
The group should care more about Julia’s lack of accountability than Guerdy showing some texts
While no one batted an eye at Julia’s actions or lack of accountability, some RHOM cast members declared Guerdy’s text stunt the worst thing they’ve ever seen. They accused Guerdy of publicly humiliating Julia, and then returned the favor by storming out of the event. They spoke over and over about how inappropriate it was at an event for surviving cancer, seemingly forgetting Guerdy herself is a cancer survivor. Was it not inappropriate for Julia to dump water on a cancer survivor?
In fact, the group cared more about Stephanie Shojaee staying behind for the event than about Julia’s lack of accountability. Stephanie, who is new to the group, explained she just wanted to hear both sides out. But she was accused of “kissing Guerdy’s ass.” Yikes.
It’s very disappointing to see how the group reacts to Guerdy. That’s why it’s such a relief to know that Dr. Nicole Martin returns for a cameo next week. Without Dr. Nicole, the group has felt unbalanced. She was always the voice of reason. And she has Guerdy’s back on and off screen.
Meanwhile, there is a lot of support for Guerdy on social media. Fans praised Adriana de Moura for standing by her, as well as the ladies who stayed at the event. Jennifer Fessler also came to her defense. And Julia, continuing to lack accountability, lashed out at Jennifer. But with the public support for Guerdy, I wouldn’t be surprised if some members of the RHOM cast change their tunes and apologize to her at the reunion. We’ll have to see if Julia does so.
