PlayStation Plus subscribers occasionally get some incredible deals, and one unexpected and surprisingly great game that became free starting in July is Banishers: Ghosts of New Eden. This recent action RPG from DON’T NOD, the studio behind Life Is Strange and Vampyr, places players in the role of spirit hunters tasked with lifting a curse from the plagued land of New Eden in 1695.

Banishers: Ghosts of New Eden joined the PS Plus catalog on July 15, and it’s picking up some new fans. Reddit user anderskants calls Banishers: Ghosts of New Eden “an underrated gem” that is well worth checking out. For Extra and Premium subscribers, Banishers is available for free, and plenty of fans have positive things to say about the title.

Now that it’s on PS Plus, it’s the perfect time to try it out or add it to your library to play later on.

Banishers largely went unnoticed on launch, and ComboWizard shares a concern that it may have “really lacked good marketing budget,” despite having excellent gameplay and an engaging narrative. Banishers: Ghosts Of New Eden is one of countless great games to add to your library in 2025, and it’s easy to miss in a packed genre of must-play games. That said, with such high praise from fans, this is one you don’t want to sleep on while it’s free on PS Plus.
