Recently, Sam Asghari blessed his social media with a sentimental sunset embrace while wishing, “Here’s to another year of life to my 🪨.” Sunshine streamed into the scene, painting a warm background for some delicate grips on a bunch of pink roses and yellow flowers from the congenial rocky side, each flower exuding happiness and love. Asghari never clarified to whom he was raising this toast, and the post split the followers into distinct types of reactions: those were very much supportive of the post and those who were not so.

The comment section soon became this mishmash of compliments and doubt. One user gushed, “Damn, she is soooo pretty!! Best wishes to you both!!” Another observed, “I can’t imagine what your kids will look like in the future! Just stunning.” True to their name, not all were enamored by the sight. One detractor accused Asghari of using his ex-relationship with Britney Spears as a shrine for fame, calling him a “vile human.” Another joined, once again disparaging: “Made a name for himself using Britney then when she needed him the most, he bounced. Disgusting.”
Numerous Persian speakers joined the discussion as well. One wrote in English, “You guys look so good together,” while another cracked a joke in Persian (translated), “At least you got away from that crazy old lady,” presumably a dig at his very public separation from Spears. Another sarcastic retort was: “New one every six months,” alluding to skepticism about the duration of his relationships.
The photo had some confused as a whole, with one saying: “I thought this was Bonnie Blue for a split second,” referring to another public figure. On another note regarding appearance, one uttered: “Omg why her body look like skeleton,” here comes one more cruelness that celebrity posts never run away from.
In his usually good form, Asghari chose not to engage in the negativity and rather focused on celebrating this particular milestone—be it romantic or something else. The caption itself was ambiguous and allowed for a plethora of interpretations: “my 🪨;” however, the picture portrayed much more about intimacy and gratitude.
The rocky landscape at the backdrop almost metaphorically mirrored the rocky opinions within the comments: some were solid and some just crumbled under the mass of public views. The smile from Asghari in the photo, however, tells us he probably was never bothered about the clamor. In this orbit of celebrity social media, nothing stays starred on for long; each post is a Rorschach blot for the followers. What they see tells more about them than the person posting.

So here’s the take-away for the time being: Sam Asghari shared a happy moment, and the internet unleashed its forte: impatient, passionate, and sometimes irrational.
