Scooter Braun Shares Once In A Lifetime Orca Encounter With His Kids

The music powerhouse Scott Scooter Braun is releasing what could be the most dramatic family adventure content of the year. The man posted a sentimental recounting about his own orca-swimming adventure with his children and proclaimed it one of the greatest days of his life. And honestly? The footage and story are so wild that one gets cold chills down one’s back.

Braun and the family, along with friends from The Bucket List Family, had spent about three days at sea, recording the calls of orcas and blasting the Free Willy theme song (such an iconic choice, by the way). On the last morning, the universe couldn’t have known better: the whole orca family turned up; a mother and baby even kindly stopped to gaze lovingly down at Braun’s kids. Pure magic, he opined; perhaps his daughter Hart is the youngest, if not the absolute youngest, to have ever swum with an orca. Bragging rights for preschool, for sure.

The post went viral, bringing out feelings of awe, envy, and everything possible between. One user commented on this being the coolest thing Braun has ever posted, while another said they never imagined crying first thing in the morning. Me? Can’t blame them; locking eyes with a baby orca is the kind of moment that rewires your brain.

Some comments took a walk down Nostalgia Lane, with one person saying that their 90s heart got crushed because of the Free Willy reference. Others, including a commenter who joked about how his dad took him to SeaWorld instead, debated how these kinds of wildlife encounters are becoming more and more rare. And there were skeptics as well, with one abruptly questioning whether it was even real, which, if you think about it, is a perfectly valid question. Orcas don’t exactly make time for meet-and-greet, now, do they?

The Bucket List Family, who went along for the trip, joined in saying it was “most epic playdate ever.” Braun’s reply: “Love you guys.” So short yet palpable joy in that one statement.

The only thing that this viral wildlife moment seemed to need was just a little bit of drama. Somebody saw alleged trash being held in an orca’s mouth and sent the entire comment section into pandemonium. Enter another user, clearing away the panic with his declaration that it was a thresher shark because, you see, Mother Nature is metal like that.

Braun closed the post by thanking the crew and calling his kids badass, to which we say yeah, absolutely. No argument there: Besides the orcas and bonding, the sheer audacity of this adventure is the type of core memory most people only dream about. So now, while the rest of us are glued to the couch, the burning question becomes: When’s the next one? And we want to be there.

Side note: If anyone needs us, we’ll be busy watching Free Willy and questioning all of our life choices.
