One of the stars of Yellowjackets has another plane crash thriller on the way, and Apple TV+ has finally announced a release date for The Last Frontier. Simone Kessell, who plays the adult Lottie Matthews in the cast of Yellowjackets, can’t seem to get away from doomed planes with her upcoming drama series.
The Last Frontier is likely to be the last original TV show for Apple TV+ in 2025. The series stars Jason Clarke as Frank Remnick, a U.S. Marshal working in a secluded Alaskan town when a plane crashes. The plane was carrying several fugitives who have now been freed, and it’s up to Frank to protect his friends and neighbors.
Kessell is set to play Sarah Remnick. It’s unconfirmed, but Sarah is likely Frank’s wife. The series was first announced in February 2023, but now we have a release date (via Variety). A press release for Apple on July 24 announced that The Last Frontier will be premiering globally on Friday, October 10, 2025.
The same announcement came with a sneak peek 52-second trailer that shows the plane in question crashing into the snowy Alaskan wilderness. Those on board are in chains and in orange jumpsuits, and one fugitive, who’s primarily featured, wears a black mask, obscuring their features.

Apple TV+ has had a banner year in 2025, with Your Friends and Neighbors, The Studio, and Murderbot leading the pack on the platform alongside other solid series like Smoke and Dope Thief. If The Last Frontier is a success, it could cap 2025 as one of Apple TV+’s best years critically.

The Series Will Finish Out The 2025 TV Season
October-November always feels a little like the last gasp for TV premieres before the holidays begin in earnest, and we stop getting anything for a month or two. It’s exciting to learn that we should have something interesting to close out the year, and with 10 episodes, we’ll be entertained for a good while.
The trailer also wisely doesn’t give too much away, but it does seem to reveal that we will begin The Last Frontier in the thick of things, with the plane crash happening early. It’s a frighteningly realistic scene, too, and it looks like Apple TV+ is shelling out the money for this thriller.
