In her some-way-to-life-quick-presentation, dear Gretchen gave us a throwback of the unimaginably charming underwater fantasy that was for Skylar’s sixth birthday celebration. The party itself was held at Wild Rivers Water Park in Irvine, with the magic of mermaids brought in by Once Upon An Island. And mind you, if one were ever to compare this child’s party to an adult-style wedding, it is just farther in the stratus-layer.

The video clearly shows little Skylar doing cartwheels, splashing around, and soaking in each minute of her mermazing day. With such a loving mom like Gretchen, the decor had to be on another level: floral by Mollie Mercado, a show-stopping cake by Bspink Icing, and balloon installations by Sandy’s Candy Bars. It was straight out of Disney with cabanas decorated with seashells and lustrous blue hues.
But the true darling of the show is just a pure moment of delight with Skylar. The video picked up on the gaze glued to her party essence with wonder once again proving that a children’s reaction is the actual making of a celebration. Gretchen got tearful and penned the caption, “I can’t believe she’s already 6 years old… where does the time go, Momma’s?” An emotion every parent will relate to.
The fans showered the comments with love and adoration, calling the theme “perfect” and Skylar “the cutest.” One comment read: “A little girl’s dream birthday!” Others were excited about her cartwheel skills. All these were followed by shout-outs calling her a “Mermaid” – which prompted Gretchen to say that she would DM the link to the party outfits and decor to anyone who dropped the word. (Spoiler alert: Several eager users got a little too eager with their DMs, but hey, that’s Instagram for ya!).

It really feels like just yesterday when she was giving pregnancy updates, and here this little girl is flipping through the pool like a little Olympian.
The party was enjoyed not only by the guests but also by Wild Rivers Water Park, for making the day incredibly special. With water slides, theme treats, and atmosphere of “we’re underwater royalty for a day” in between, it’s surely going to be a challenging show to beat for Skylar’s 6th.
So, to more cartwheels, more mermaid magic, and more moments that make us all wish we could time-travel back to being six when the only major was, “can I eat cake before I jump back into the pool?” Belated Happy Birthday, Skylar, keep shining, little fish.
