The bitterness has subsided, and Joe Exotic is back to feeling hopeful about his chances at a Presidential pardon. When he learned of Todd Chrisley and Julie Chrisley’s release from prison, the Tiger King star expressed some frustration that he hadn’t been offered the same privilege. Now, he’s opening up about his wide range of emotions and issuing another plea for help.
Could Joe Exotic get a presidential pardon after Todd and Julie Chrisley?
In an interview with Us Weekly, the disgraced animal keeper shared his renewed hope at receiving a pardon from Trump. At one point, he felt so certain that it would happen that he offered to serve in the administration. His faith in Trump started to wane, but at this point, the POTUS might be his only hope.
“It does give me hope,” Joe said of the Chrisley pardons. “I’ve lost everything. I’ve lost my entire work career of building that zoo. My parents have died. My house is destroyed. I have no clothes or anything left anymore. And I’ve done almost eight years in prison for a bunch of people.”
Joe, who is behind bars for his murder-for-hire plot against Carole Baskin, told the outlet that he’d be open to any sort of relief. A pardon isn’t even necessary. He just wants to be out of the slammer.
“If President Trump wants to do the right thing, at least sign my clemency. I have a clemency application,” Joe added. “I don’t need a pardon.”
He continued, “I just wanna go home. … I don’t need to carry a gun, and I don’t do drugs. I don’t drink, so sign my clemency as time served with no probation.”
If Joe does get out of prison, he has a very specific plan about his next steps. He wants to go to Mexico to reunite with his husband, whom he married in prison. The Trump administration deported him to Mexico, so Joe wants to buy a “gold Trump card so we can come back to America the right way.”
“[They] keep telling me that my name is on the list for the next go round, but it all depends on which ones Trump takes off the list to use,” Joe claimed. “Why the hell am I still in prison?”
Tiger King is streaming on Netflix.
