The initial poster and teaser for Netflix’s upcoming rom-com, ‘The Wrong Paris,’ gave the Internet a whirl. Starring Miranda Cosgrove and Pierson Fode, the story is supposed to deliver a hilarious spin on the traditional French love tale-except it is almost not in any Paris that anyone had ever taken into consideration. Set to release on September 12, and judging by the reaction around, fans are counting the days already.

The story seems to revolve around this girl (Cosgrove) thinking she is landing in Paris, France, when in actuality she ends up in Paris, Texas-enough confusion and awkward situations along with charm to keep viewers entertained. The bit of a teaser is dripping with rom-com elements-witty banter, mistaken identities, and all-old classic fish-out-of-water comedy. Miranda Cosgrove leads, bate my breath!
The reactions have remained positive, with one audience member calling it the “best rom-com ever,” while another said, “if it has Miranda Cosgrove, it has my audience.” Fair enough would seem to be the way to go. Cosgrove rose to fame as Carly Shay from ‘iCarly’ and, obviously, has a solid following ready to back her next project, and from the comments, they seem all in.
Pierson Fode, praised for his performance thus far, is best known to some as appearing on ‘The Bold and the Beautiful,’ with another comment jokingly asking, “May I ask you why you’re so damn good in this trailer?” Another admitted that they had been about the male lead at first but are all for it now.”;The chemistry between the two leads may well be the selling point, as many comments laud their dynamic.
There were also funny little debates in the comment section about if Paris, Texas, was really the best choice for the confusion. One user proclaimed that Paris, California (which they spelled “Perris”), would have been a funnier choice. So, Texas does have its own charm. We should not forget about the blame-the-environment moment when the characters realize they’ve been circling in a plane for nine hours-“That was not very green of us.” Classic.
Some fans are already drawing comparisons to other beloved projects, with one suggesting the possible crossovers between Cosgrove’s ‘iCarly’ decomposition and Madeleine Arthur’s ‘To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before.’ Netflix is pulling the nostalgia card, and it’s working.
Of course, some comments were not about the movie. One commenter took the opportunity to demand a third ‘Old Guard’ picture (Netflix, take notes) while one other just had to gush about how good Fode looks. I would not blame them.
In short, ‘The Wrong Paris’ looks like it could charm viewers with cute leads, an original take, and the stereotypical feel-good rom-com vibes people crave. If the hype is to be justified will remain to be seen, but for now, the excitement is palpable. It cannot be long enough until September 12.

Just like that, we get yet another Netflix rom-com to berate. Who really needs the Eiffel Tower when Paris, Texas, shares the cityscape with Miranda Cosgrove? Okay, I might have given away a bit more than I meant to, but much of this will be a riot.
