Priyanka Chopra Reflects On Career Turning Point With ‘Kaminey’ 16 Years Later

Priyanka Chopra took a little trip down memory lane of sorts. The fans flooded the comments with love. The actress had a very sentimental post about how director Vishal Bhardwaj had to fly down to Miami to woo her to perform in the role that changed her life.

A throwback in the form of a prime picture of Priyanka as Sweety, adorned with traditional jewelry and flowers in her hair. That picture really conveys the entire metamorphosis: a perfect amalgamation of culture-laden process and intense cinema.

Priyanka went on to say that she was hesitant at first, thinking her so-called “commercial” image had probably hindered Bhardwaj from considering her. But Bhardwaj wanted to look beyond her typecasting and had promised that she would get to do more than just the original eight scenes he had planned for her. “Trust me,” he said—and she did. The trust paid off when she garnered that immense recognition in 7 Khoon Maaf.

The fans went off in full force in the comments. One comment stated that Kaminey was “the coolest film, the best soundtrack, and the most wonderful performances.” Another commented, “Have you watched it? I mean of course we have,” while some went on to praise her chemistry with fellow cast Shahid Kapoor and the late Amol Gupte.

It was not all nostalgic comments, though; one comment began a small debate asking about her box office credentials, which almost immediately drew counter-opinions from the side that so overwhelmingly congratulated her. The majority, however, gave praise to her growth and called her Kaminey role rather unforgettable.

An attentively heartfelt reply revealed that this particular commenter had watched the film just the day before Priyanka posted. “Incredible timing,” commented another one. Others only had the words to say about the famous Raat Ke Dhai Baje song—proof that some screen moments truly go into legend.

Even sixteen years after its release, Kaminey remains a triumphant zenith on Priyanka’s acting trajectory-interspersed with providence-taken chances, trust-given roles that lend the paradigm to an artist. And judging by the comments, her fans won’t let her slip from memory anytime soon. Priyanka also often shares insights about her experiences, like when exploring Jaipur’s gemstone legacy recently, showcasing her deep connection to her culture.
