Tom Sandoval’s AGT Journey Is Over

Vanderpump Rules alum Tom Sandoval and his band, Tom Sandoval and The Most Extras, performed their final cover song on America’s Got Talent. They fought hard to advance to the Semifinals. Yet AGT Season 20 was not theirs to win.

All four judges agreed that they were an overall fun band to watch. Regardless, this is a skill-based competition series. Therefore, as things start getting down to the wire, only the top acts can progress. According to their judges, this inconvenient, minor little detail meant that it was time to say goodbye to Tom Sandoval and The Most Extras on AGT.

Looking ahead, Tom is not ruling out anything when it comes to his band or his future career strides. Music-wise, his band gained several new followers alongside many words of praise during their stint on AGT. Reality television-wise, Tom has at least one future option to weigh. He also has another series already booked, filmed, and ready to air soon on Bravo.

Tom Sandoval did not make it on AGT, despite a memorable quarterfinal performance

During the Quarterfinals stage of this series, Tom and his band learned their fate. As they waited, host Terry Crews called out two acts at a time, having them stand shoulder to shoulder on the stage, twiddling their white fingernails to stave off their nerves (maybe). When this progressed, we learned that Tom and his team had lost their spot in the Semifinals. As for the person who bested them, this went to a comedian named Shuler King, who centers his hysterical bits around his job as a funeral director.

Their exit was not exactly shocking. After all, their last performance left the judges torn. While performing their rendition of Blinding Lights, Simon Cowell reached out and hit the red buzzer midway through their set, letting them know that, despite Tom’s sparkly getup and cool sunglasses, something felt lacking.

“Well, I like Tom and I like the band. However, you know, you’re judging this performance. It didn’t sound great,” Simon explained, adding, “Look, it might just be me from where I sat, but that did not sound good, I’m afraid.”

Mel B and Howie Mandel, however, felt differently. They thoroughly enjoyed Tom and his band, especially the entertainment value they provided. Tom even made Mel smile, she admitted, which hopefully helped to soften the blow of this being their final appearance on AGT Season 20.

Long before AGT Season 20 came a knocking, Tom was making headlines for his antics on Vanderpump Rules. During Season 10, he broke the internet with his affair. Following the unearthing of this ugly little secret, Tom fell out of favor with his cast and viewers alike. He tried to move forward in Season 11, but his cameras had quickly picked back up, so only a handful of people felt ready to show him grace.

After that, VPR (as we all knew it) went the way of his penis flute (it broke). The only way forward was to overhaul this cast. Tom found other avenues to earn a living. One of which is Season 3 of House of Villains.

As Tom shared with US Weekly, “I just [filmed] House of Villains Season 3, which I’m really excited about. I’m hearing such good things from production and people around that [show], that it’s gonna be an amazing season — maybe the best season yet,“ he teased. Tom felt “pleasantly surprised” while filming this series, because “It was such a great experience,” he admitted.

Now, “It might be one of my favorites yet,” he revealed. What Tom enjoyed the most was having an “opportunity to develop friendships and connections. I was in there making cocktails, and it was a really cool environment.” Viewers can find him here at the start of 2026.

Could Sandoval join The Valley Season 3 after Jax Taylor’s departure?

With AGT and HOV already in the can, what comes next for Tom? Is it time for him to ease back into a gig on Bravo? Well, Jax Taylor just vacated his temperamental throne over on The Valley. Would Tom consider taking over his spot if the network offers him this chance?

US Weekly also asked Tom this question. CliffsNotes: Tom does not “have any plans” to film with this cast. You see, VPR left him with “mixed feelings” about reality television.

In general, Tom has enjoyed “not showing up” to filming, where he had to “spill [his] stuff all the time,” he confessed. Also, his time is limited, as he has “a lot of things in the works right now.” However, he “can’t talk about” those projects just yet. “But I’m working on a lot of stuff behind the scenes,” he teased.

Instead, according to a source, “Tom is focusing on his music career. He is less interested in reality TV [at this time]. He wants to launch another tour after his AGT run is over and capitalize on that success.”

That makes sense. But life is expensive. So, we will not rule out his future on The Valley just yet.

America’s Got Talent airs on Tuesdays at 8/7c on NBC and streams the following day on Peacock.
